Hey bookworm friends! Last year, I gave myself too many ambitious goals that I barely paid attention to. Instead, I pretty much mood-read for most of the year, which was great but I felt a tad disorganized. So this year I’m giving myself fewer specific goals but more structure. One way I’m doing that is by participating in more reading challenges; I do a better job of sticking to TBRs that way. I want to be able to jump into any that catch my attention but I’ve already got my eye on 5 of them. 😉 Here are the bookish goals and reading challenges that I hope will guide my reading in 2025!

Bookish Goals
- Less Focus On Numbers, More Focus on Enjoyment & Purposefulness. I gave myself a goal of 5 books on StoryGraph, so I can feel free to pick long books without the pressure to meet arbitrary numbers.
- Don’t Give Into the FOMO. I still like to pick up popular books if I genuinely think I’m gonna like them, but I’ll no longer accept popularity alone as reason enough to pick up a book.
- Focus On Reading My Owned Books. I failed on an epic level on this last year so let’s try again.
- Make Progress or Finish Series. Again, I’m not giving myself a number but as long as I check series off my tracker I’ll be happy. Especially if they’re ones I started before 2024!
- Post More Reviews & Simplify Them. I’d like to be more consistent with posting reviews for more things I read. My review process is too time-consuming and has begun to deter me from writing reviews unless I absolutely love the book. So, I simplified my review template and I’m going to stop using the CAWPILE rating method. I’ll give a simple star rating (including half-stars) and hope this will let me post more often and share a wider range of reviews.

Did you participate in this week’s TTT? If so, feel free to share your link below. Do we have any of the same goals?
Popularity alone is not a good reason for me a read a book either!
I love how you set this into goals and challenges. Good luck with all of them. I’m sure you can do this 🥰
I really like what you’ve said about focusing more on enjoyment than numbers. That’s actually why I got rid of the list I had once years back of my physical TBR. I was getting so worried about catching up that I kept getting 3/4 of a way through a book then abandoning it as I felt it was taking too long 🙈 this was like a decade back but the slumps I had on and off for ages back then are part of the reason my TBR is so crazy. Part of me feels like chucking the rest out and starting afresh (the TBR lists I still have, not my actual owned books I wouldn’t dream of that). But then I worry that I’ll miss something I’d love 🙈 so yeah we definitely have your third goal in common and I majorly need to work on your first one. Although I’m a lot better than I once was.
I really look forward to seeing more reviews from you too and hope your new system works out for you. Good luck with the series though. I think it’s a goal that a lot of people will have in some form.
Ooh I’m doing the SFF title challenge too. I haven’t heard of the others and will look into them. The Sound Of Madness one is instantly intriguing me though 😂
I didn’t know they had Bingo on Instagram too. I’ll have to look into that too. How fun. I’ll have to look into challenges and the weekly themed posts people do on there.
Good luck again with everything and I hope you enjoy your challenges 🥰 here’s hoping for a wonderful reading year for us both
FOMO… yes!! I need to stop giving into that too. I need a more chill and less stressful year with ARC’s. lol. Wishing you the best with all these goals!
Here’s to not letting FOMO get the best of us! and I’m wishing you a less stressful year! And thank you, Leslie :D!
I will have to check out the SSF101 challenge, although I think I have enough challenges at the moment😁 I also plan on reading more of my own books. Good luck!
I’m joining in the STT Title Challenge again this year, too. It’s a lot of fun! Best of luck with your reading goals!
