Hey bookworm friends! I found a perfect tag for the theme of this year’s Wyrd & Wonder: The Desert Island Book Tag 🏝️! I found this tag on The Corner of Laura’s Blog but unfortunately neither she nor I could find the original creator of this tag. I’ll try to stick to only fantasy books for my answers but no promises.

WATER: A Book You Simply Cannot Live Without

This is an extremely difficult question and I took a long time to think about it. When I think of books I can’t live without, it’s all books from my childhood that pop into my head first. So I’m going to have to say Beyond The Deepwoods because it was the first Edge Chronicles book that I read and that series lives in my mind and heart rent free.
FOOD: A Book That’s a Close Second on your Favourites List

My list of favourites isn’t exactly numbered but one that works well for this prompt is The Witch’s Heart. One that I read in my adulthood so it doesn’t have the fervor of childhood nostalgia but it’s more of a quiet, steady love if that makes sense.
SHELTER: A Book That Makes You Feel Home and Safe

I loved the whole Monk & Robot duology but A Prayer for the Crown Shy is my favourite of the two. It makes me feel like I’m home and safe because the characters are settled into their friendship, their adventure is tame and they are mostly busy with simple and pleasant tasks🖤.
FLARE GUN: A Book That You Would Recommend to a Person Who Doesn’t Read

I think Anxious People might be a great book for those who aren’t into reading…yet. The writing is accessible yet beautiful. It’s funny and poignant, and it’s not overly long. This book is entirely outside of my comfort zone but yet I loved it so I think it has a lot of mass appeal.
FIRE-MATCHES: A Book That Warms Your Heart

Thank goodness, finally an easy question! Swordheart definitely warmed my heart, it was so sweet and hilarious. When I wasn’t giggling my butt off, I was busy ‘awwww’-ing.
COMPASS: A Book That Directed You Towards Your Love of Reading
I have been reading for as far back as I can remember and there is no one book that I think can claim this title. The honor of directing me to my love of reading belongs to my mom! She always read me and my brother so many books as we were growing up and then took us to the library where we would borrow piles and piles of picture books.
I tag anyone who wants to do the Desert Island Book Tag! And also those who may need an idea for a Wyrd & Wonder post! 🌊🏝️😛
Let’s chat in the comments!
What’s your desert island book? Or, have you read any ocean-y, pirate-y, or mermaid-y books lately?
These are some tough prompts! But such a great selection/choices too 🙂
I have not read any ocean/pirate/mermaid books in ages – but this reminds me I’ve got several on my shelf waiting to be read … Maybe I should get on that, lol
I don’t have a favourite book, but I do have a favourite series. Every time I am asked the desert island question, I cheat and say that series. While it’s a great read the first time through, it’s a series made for rereading. And at 11 books, each over 500 pages long, that’s a lot of available reading 🙂
