Hey Bookworm friends, I can’t believe it’s almost December already! I didn’t have many plans with friends or big events but somehow the month went by like a breeze anyway. It was a more video-game-heavy month because my partner and I found a new favourite cooperative game! And it’s getting cold and wet out there again, which means we’d all rather be cozy indoors, and Cheeto isn’t keen on long walks.
November Highlights
- I’ve been having dinner with my parents every Friday and it’s a new mini tradition we’ve enjoyed a lot. And the dogs get super extra spoiled that day.
- I participated in the #scifimonth2024 blog event and fell more in love with science fiction stories in every medium!
What I Watched In November
If you’ve seen my round-up posts before you know how much we love Taskmaster in this house. So imagine our surprise when we discovered there is also a Canadian Taskmaster but it’s only in Québec. It’s been forever since I watched any TV in French and my husband understands about 50% of it. It’s not nearly as good as the OG show but it’s a fun way to practice our French! Also one of our friends is a huge Doctor Who fan and she’s always talking about it. So I thought, since it’s sci-fi month, it’s time to see it for myself so I can know what the heck she’s talking about😂. And now I have so many thoughts and feelings. Mainly: I loved the 9th Doctor so much, I wish he was there longer 😢.
Finished Watching
- The Umbrella Academy (S4)
Currently Watching
- Le Maître du Jeu (S1 & 3)
- Doctor Who (S1 & 2)
Games I Played in November
- It Takes Two is a really creative cooperative video game! You play as two parents (May and Cody) who are having marital problems so their child casts a spell on them that turns them into tiny dolls. They’ll have to travel through the entire house and garden solving problems together to get back to their bodies. It has “Honey, I Shrunk the Kids” vibes and at every level, we get different powers depending on what’s going on in the story. It was so whimsical and funny and the level of difficulty was perfect for me (challenging enough for the need to take breaks but achievable)! It took us about 15 hours to complete the game and it’s joining Overcooked in our list of favourite cooperative games! it’s one I heartily recommend to anyone who wants a co-op game; we’re always looking for more of those!
- Last month I mentioned I’ve been having a tough time finding a visual novel game that I like. I had heard of Jenny LeClue – Detectivu so I decided to try it—it’s not exactly a visual novel but rather a mystery game with a focus on story and character. We follow Jenny’s mystery novel as the author is writing it and we get to solve puzzles and make choices to progress the story. I feel like this game has the degree of player participation I wanted from the other games I tried. So far I’ve played it for 8 hours and I’m loving it!
Craft WIP
- I’m currently working on these granny squares to make a blanket. I had started them months ago but then got sidetracked with another project. Now that I’m returning to the squares, I realized I had been making an error in the last round. Annoying, but I didn’t bother fixing it in the finished squares—I’ll just make the next ones better 😀. I only have 8 so far and I’m not going off a blanket pattern so I’ll make enough until I run out of the colours and see how big I can make it. This will be my first crochet blanket!

Let’s chat in the comments!
What was a highlight of your month? Do you have a favourite cooperative game?
Thanks for the shout-ou! I love that you have have a dog named Whiskey. In one of my favorite novels, The Brave Cowboy, the hero has a horse named Whisky. XD
The novel, should you be interested:

Thanks, I’ll go check out the link 🙂
My pleasure 🙂 & Yes Whisky is my parent’s dog aka my furry brother♥ My dad named him that because it’s his favourite drink 😆. Which I’m guessing is a similar reason to the Brave Cowboy’s Horse?
I honestly can’t believe we’re almost in December either. Aww 😍 yay for the two dogs sharing the couch.
I’m glad you’re enjoying a new form of Taskmaster and getting to practice your French. I’ve seen some Doctor Who but not all of it. Only really the odd episode. I should try to watch the 9th & 10th Doctor series properly tbh as they had bits that intrigued me. I saw some of the 11th too and liked Matt Smith as the Doctor but I went off of the writing. There was one episode where a Tudor character felt like a Black Adder character and I gave up at that point. Don’t get me wrong I love what I’ve seen of that series but it’s meant to be funny. Doctor Who is meant to travel to the past and turning that character into a comedy figure frustrated me. Hopefully you won’t feel similarly though 🤞🤞
I’m glad you had such a good time with It Takes Two. It sounds so fun and I always used to love Honey I Shrunk The Kids. I have no one to do Co op games with though 😕 I’m glad you’re enjoying that other game so much too, it sounds pretty different.
Ooh I really want to make something with granny squares. I can’t wait to see your finished blanket!! Good luck. I need to try and start attempting crochet again. I was just getting the hang of it then stopped 🙈 I also still need to start my newest cross stitch but majorly hope to this month.
I hope you have a wonderful December 🥰
Right? The second half of the year is absolutely flying by! Yes, it was so cute even if it was just for a few minutes! It’s been so fun watching a bunch of varieties of the show from different countries haha! Ah okay I’m glad you’ve watched bits of Doctor Who I overall love the show but some episodes are clearly better than others. It’s also funny going into a tv show with a huge rabid fanbase coz there’s lots of memes and commentary out there which is fun although I’m having to be careful not to spoil myself accidentally while looking at memes 🤣 I am curious now as to what I’ll think about the 11th Doctor🤔
Ahahah I can see why that might be annoying especially because you like history! Honestly now I know to expect super campy things I’m just fully embracing it. The first episode really shocked me with how off the wall ridiculous it was though!!
Thanks and yes I used to love that movie as a kid, there’s something about tiny people in a giant world that sets my imagination off and I love it! I immediately started day-dreaming about dressing up as the characters for next Halloween 😂.
Aw thank you and I’ll definitely post any updates on here when I make good progress! haha that happened to me too before but you can always come back to it anytime you want. Regardless good luck with any craft project you decide to work on and I hope you have a wonderful December as well!! 🥰
It really is!! Aww well now that it’s happened once maybe it will again. I’m glad you’re finding checking out different versions of it fun. Oh I definitely get that, avoiding spoilers for popular shows is hard. I hope you manage to do so though. I hope it ends up working for you 🤞 I’ll be interested to learn your thoughts though. One day I’d read like to go back and watch thr previous two series properly. Ah right well I hope that mindset works for you. And I’m curious to see what that first episode is like now 😂 I think it would have bothered me less if it was about a ruler I knew less well but not for that particular Tudor 😅
Aww yes I can understand why, it does make for an interesting idea. Oh lol well I hope you get to do so then! If so you should definitely share a picture of your costume.
I look forward to seeing it 🥰 yes I do plan to. Its just getting around to it that I’m not great at 🙈 Thank you ❤️
Thank you for linking my post😁 Your doggies are adorable!
My pleasure, Tammy! & Thank you, I love the babies 🥰🥰🥰.
Thanks for mentioning my blog post! 😊 I also recently watched the last season of The Umbrella Academy. What did you think of the series?
My pleasure 😊! Overall I loved Umbrella Academy although I thought the last season was the weakest season of the show. I loved the third season a lot and was expecting to love the last season as much but sadly I thought it didn’t fully explore some things and made some bad decisions. I’m still glad I watched the whole thing though!♥
You have me wanting to search out the triangular crochet blocks I was making and continue. I don’t think I have made any more since 2021. Finding them might be a December job.
Thanks for the link to Cuckoo’s Egg. I loved being able to go back and find an old review when you did that post. And CJ Cherryh does deserve some more love.
I liked the 9th and 10th doctors. I stopped watching at the 11th doctor though because he was too kid-like. Maybe he got better, but those first two episodes turned me right off. And then the 12th one was female which didn’t seem to mesh with any of the time lord lore, but we were all just expected to swallow it. So I wasn’t interested in trying even one of those episodes. I’ve heard the 13th doctor is good, but I guess I’ve now long left the tent and can’t be bothered going back. Plus, I’m pretty sure past lore had that there were only 12 incarnations of a time lord…
Oh triangular crochet blocks sound so fun! I hope you can dig out your old WIP and keep going. I hope you still have the pattern, I had a tiny freak out when I couldn’t remember where I left it and realized it was still downloaded on my phone, phew!
Yay, my pleasure, I am just happy that you shared a link with me when I do my old review posts, I wish more people did that but I also understand the lure of the new and shiny posts instead 😂😂
Oh geez I guess I’ll have to see what the 11th one is like now I’m worried but that might not be a deal breaker for me🤷🏽♀️ My friend who loves the show just pretends the 13th doctor doesn’t exist and I know she’s not at all universally loved. Sounds like I’ve got a lot of things to learn/watch! On season/series 3 now!
