It’s Monday, Let’s Catch Up │#10

Hey bookworm friends. I hope you’re having a safe and happy October. This year I’m sadly not doing anything for Halloween which is a bummer because I love the holiday. We simply weren’t able to make plans and that’s just how the cookie crumbled, I guess 🤷🏼‍♀️. This Friday will likely be a chill day which is nice in its own way 😊. And before we get into It’s Monday, Let’s Catch up, I wanted to share that I’m adding a section to these posts. I’ve been taking part in more cover reveals on Instagram lately and I want to share those on my blog too (but without making a dedicated post each time). So I decided the best way for me will be to include any recent cover reveals in my Monday updates which I try to keep semi-regular.

Music Monday

For the last Monday of October, I’m sharing more songs from my Halloween playlist! I heard Something Strange in the Night on The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and immediately fell in love with the song. Spooky Scary Skeletons is a classic Halloween tune but as far as I’m concerned, anything Jonathan Young touches he makes better. This song never fails to make me happy.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Just Finished

Physical
Audiobook

What a morning! I managed to finish two books on the same day! I managed to catch up on my buddy read of The Tropic of Serpents and I really enjoyed this book. I also finished my audiobook of The Adventure of the Demonic Ox and as always I was so happy to be with Pen and Des again and sad that the adventure is over so quickly! And I absolutely love seeing Penric as a Father 🥹. This series has my heart.

Currently Reading

I kept seeing Do Your Worst pop up everywhere and thought it sounded like a fun seasonal romance. I only just started it so I don’t have much of an opinion so far. But I do enjoy a good haunted Scottish castle as a setting!

Up Next

Okay, I was supposed to read A Tempest of Ravens before it came out but now that ship has sailed. It released 3 days ago and I am still planning on picking this up soon!

Ash Black and The Seven Wolves by Effie Joe Stock

After the mysterious death of her father the king, Ash Black finds herself facing a growing evil amidst her hasty coronation. Whispered rumors of treason become a grim reality when her stepmother accuses her of wielding black magic and murdering the king, and announces that her own daughter, Snow White, will rise to the throne instead.

Her title stripped, wolf familiar torn from her side, and childhood love and fiancé betrothed to her hateful half-sister, Ash Black awaits her trial in the forgotten depths of her castle. There, in a place so devoid of warmth, love, and light, Ash Black learns her communion with the night and the creatures who hide within are not just delusion, but a deep, powerful magic that has ruled the land for centuries.

With the help of a soul trapped in a mirror, a clever jumping spider, and seven wolf spirits, Ash Black races against time to awaken the magic within herself, bending darkness, blood, and bone to her will to destroy a light-ridden lie squeezing the balance and freedom from her kingdom. Yet as her lover, family, magic, and kingdom hang in the balance, Ash Black quickly finds no happy endings are won without immense sacrifice.

The Kickstarter Campaign for this project is also now open.

Stacking The Shelves

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, whether it be physical or virtual. Reading Reality posts on Saturdays but you can post any day that works for you— don’t forget to visit the link-up on Saturday to join in on the fun!

I’m mostly stacking my shelves via the library this time. Iluminae is for a buddy read in November and it feels like all my holds arrived at the same time. I also saw The Emilie Adventures on sale on Google Books and I’ve had my eye on it for a while so I jumped on it. There’s not much else I can do with my Google money so books it is.

Thanks Yvonne, I sadly ended up DNF-ing almost immediately the next day, it just was kind of annoying.
