It’s Monday, Let’s Catch Up │#6

Hey bookworm friends! Last It’s Monday, Let’s Catch Up I mentioned that I had been trying to go to the gym more regularly. Three weeks later, I’m happy to be able to say I’ve been able to stick to it pretty well so far . I also made the choice to join my community’s lawn bowling club so I could spend more time outside doing something active! I’ve only gone twice so far but I’ve enjoyed it a lot and everyone there is so lovely and happy to show newbies the ropes. I’m thinking that I’ll do the gym three days a week and then lawn bowling twice, that way I have a bit of exercise every week day 🙂. Now, on to the good stuff! 😜

Music Monday

On summer solstice this year I got to see the Toronto psychedelic rock band, Blood Ceremony in concert. I wanted to share one of their songs because I can’t stop thinking about how talented they are. The most impressive part of their performance was how seamlessly the lead singer switches between playing the flute one breath, singing the next, and then playing the organ/keyboard.

In a similar vein, the second song I’m sharing is also psychedelic rock but this time from the Finnish band Jess and The Ancient Ones. Astral Sabbat is so catchy and pleasant to listen to and both songs would fit so well in a playlist together.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Just Finished

Just finished the 3rd book in my Wicked Lovely buddy reread and I didn’t love Fragile Eternity as much the second time around. I’m still having a blast revisiting this world but one of my favourite characters got done so dirty by the plot. It feels like a switch got turned off on his personality and I’m so disappointed and bummed out 😭. Hoping the next few books will resolve that in a way I like.

Currently Reading

Currently reading two buddy reads with different groups of people. A Natural History of Dragons which I’m loving so far. And Woman, Life, Freedom, a nonfiction graphic novel about the Iranian social movement of the same name. The format is interesting and different to what I was expecting but I find it works well. It’s not a topic I’m well-versed in so I appreciate how easily digestible it is. My husband and I have been enjoying looking through Adulthood is A Gift together before bed; those comics always give me a good giggle.

Up Next

Next up, we proceed to the 4th book of Wicked Lovely which is Radiant Shadows and I have to jump into yet another buddy read with Silver Under Nightfall. I’m not complaining, I adore buddy reads but for some reason I decided I could juggle 4 at the same time. I can’t. Please laugh at how silly I am.

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, whether it be physical or virtual. Reading Reality posts on Saturdays but you can post any day that works for you— don’t forget to visit the link-up on Saturday to join in on the fun!

I don’t have that many new additions to my shelves this week, just two current library borrows and an ARC I got accepted for.

  1. Yay well done on sticking with the gym. It sounds like you’re doing wonderfully 🥰🥰 is lawn bowling the same as boules (where you have to try and get closest to the small ball?).

Wow switching between flute, singing and a keyboard sounds intense. I can see how both songs would fit together on a playlist well too 🥰

I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy Fragile Eternity as much as I did. I can see why it annoyed you with what you’ve said though. I hope the last two resolve things for you 🤞

It sounds like you have an interesting mix of books on the go too. I’m loving the Lady Trent one 😍 and I’m glad you’re finding the non fiction title easy enough to take in.

Ooh Silver Under Nightfall is on my TBR too. I own that and the authors Bone Witch series but have tried nothing by her yet 🙈 and four sounds majorly ambitious buddy read wise. I was worried I’d have three fall at once but I finished one quicker than expected 😂 good luck 🥰

I hope you enjoy your library books and ARC ❤️

I like Badminton although I don’t really have enough space to do it in the garden. Forest walks are lovely too.

Thank you, I always walk by the club so I just decided why not try it myself too!🖤 I hope you enjoy Automatic Noodle.

Lawn Bowls sounds fun. I hope you continue to enjoy it. Four buddy reads definitely sounds like a lot of books to juggle at once. Good Luck 😀

    • Veronica

It is fun and also is much harder than it looks but I’m enjoying the challenge 🙂 & Thank you 🖤!

  3. Ahhh I really love A Natural History of Dragons. The second book is my favourite in some ways, it’s a lovely series. Hope you’ve been enjoying it still!

    • Veronica

Oh yay I’m so glad you love the series and that’s so nice to hear now I’m extra looking forward to reading the second one but yes I am still enjoying it. Thanks for stopping by, Nicky 🖤!

  4. Yay for the gym!!!
And I am really intrigued by your new books additions! I have Automatic Noodle on my TBR, because it sounds interesting, and this is the first time I seen Costumes For Time Travelers but it seems intriguing, even if time travel is not my thing! I am curious to know what you will think of it!!

    • Veronica

      haha yes, thank you 🙂
Yess Automatic Noodle sounds amazing, I really need to hurry up and pick it up coz it’s coming out so soon! I’m not a massive fan of really science heavy time travel but I enjoy it when it’s more fun and whimsical so hopefully this is that 🙂 Thanks so much 🖤

  5. Good job on the physical activities, keep them going. 🙂

The Adulthood is A Gift and Automatic Noodle looks interesting to me. Thank you for sharing.

    • Veronica

Thanks so much, I appreciate the encouragement! 🙂

The comics in adulthood is a gift made me laugh and it has some mini essays that I really liked at the end! I started Automatic Noodle this morning! 😀
