It’s Monday, Let’s Catch Up │#9

Hey bookworm friends. So much has happened since my last Monday catch up! Ever since we adopted my pup, he’s had a bad leg from an old injury. It suddenly started causing him a lot of trouble and pain again and we found out the only viable solution for his quality of life was to amputate it. It’s now three days post-op, Cheeto is recuperating and I’m surprised by how much energy he has! It’s been a bit of a struggle to keep him in an enclosed space and in rest mode; the first night back home he escaped the makeshift couch jail we made for him 🫠. Needless to say we haven’t been sleeping much but I’m so happy to have my little tripawd home! 💕 Now that he’s napping next to me, let’s get into It’s Monday, Let’s Catch up!

Music Monday

I decided that for Music Mondays in October I’ll share songs from my Halloween playlist. It’s made up of overtly Halloween-y tunes but also songs I listen to year-round and think work well for the holiday. The songs I’m featuring today are from Hazbin Hotel. Well, mostly…’Insane’ is not actually in the show but it’s a fan song co-written & performed by the singing voice of one of the characters from the TV show. And it’s so good🖤! And ‘Poison’ is featured in the show but the version I’m sharing is my favourite cover of it.

Fan song posted on YouTube, 2021│Genre: I don’t know…1920’s jazz style musical?

Cover of Hazbin Hotel’s ‘Poison’, 2024│Genre: Alternative dance with a metal spin.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Just Finished

Recently finished listening to audio for The Cinnamon Bun Book Store. It’s part of my mission to continue or finish series and I am still enjoying this one. It’s cute, I was invested in their romance and I finished it up in a couple of days while doing chores and on walks.

Currently Reading

Ebook, ARC

The start of October saw me continuing two series buddy reads. Charlotte and I are on book 4 of the Wicked Lovely series, Radiant Shadows. I’ve been having a blast rereading this old favourite and at this point in the series I don’t remember much so it’s a bit like reading it again for the first time 😅. For the Lady Trent series, Leslie, Charlotte, Dini and I have started the second book, The Tropic of Serpents. I’m making slow progress but I’m enjoying being in that world and in Isabella’s head again, she’s such a fun character!

Up Next

Ebook, ARC
Physical

Next, I’ve got to read the ARC for A Tempest of Ravens which comes out in October! And I’ve also got the 3rd volume of the Over The Garden Wall graphic novels out from the library.

Stacking The Shelves

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, whether it be physical or virtual. Reading Reality posts on Saturdays but you can post any day that works for you— don’t forget to visit the link-up on Saturday to join in on the fun!

This week for Stacking The Shelves, the only shelf that’s seeing any excitement is the one where I keep my ARCs! These are the latest ones I’ve been approved for, the first on BookSirens and the rest through Netgalley.

Great assortment of books. All of them are new to me. I like to finish series too, but new ARCs make that pretty difficult for me. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

Thanks Kathy, glad I could introduce you to some new titles then and yeah ARCs are distracting me from working on my series progress as well! Thanks for visiting! 🙂

Thanks Zezee 🖤I know I was kind of shocked too to be honest, I was after him like “Please rest”!! lol But now he’s no longer on an exercise restriction so hurray!

    • Veronica

Thanks Tammy 🥰 He’s actually mostly back to himself now which is so nice but I am surprised at the speed of recovery, the vet wasn’t kidding when they said he’d bounce back quick and I am very happy he’s not in pain anymore 🖤

  2. Nic

    Aww, poor little tyke.
It’s good to hear he is recuperating well and showing signs of being a much more energetic little boy with not being in all that pain

    • Veronica

Thank you, Nic 😊 Yes, watching him recover quickly really cemented that we made the right choice as even our friends who’ve seen him now comment how much happier he looks. So as you can imagine I am relieved! 🥰

  3. Glad your pup now has a lot more energy, even if it makes recuperating/recovery mode trickier! Why is it always like that with animals? lol
How to Lose a Goblin in 10 Days has me very curious – that cover, the title, so much fun potential 🙂

    • Veronica

Thanks, Rebecca! Haha yes it was tricky for a while there but now he can run around all he likes and we went on the first long walk in a while today it was so nice :D!
Yes, I saw someone mention it and immediately ran to Netgally to request it 😅!

  4. Aww, poor dog. I hope he’s okay. When my previous dog was dying from cancer, she kept jumping over the baby gate that we used to separate her from the other dog. She was not interested in resting after her treatments!

    • Veronica

Thank you, AJ I really appreciate that 🙂 He’s doing really well now so I’m happy 🙂 Oh no, poor pup she was not having any of it!! She said, no gate can stop me!

  5. Cheeto in his PJs is the cutest!! *_* Is the convalescence going well?
And I was approved for How To Lose A Goblin in Ten Days too and I am really happy about it!!

    • Veronica

Thanks so much Susy! 😀 Yes, he is pretty much all healed up now! OH yayyy how fun! I can’t wait to read that one and that means when I’ve read it I’ll know who to go chat to about it 😉!
