It’s Monday, Let’s Catch Up │#13

Hey bookworm friends. I hope you all had lovely weekends. I celebrated my brother’s birthday, and spent some time reading. Now that it’s mid-January, I’m itching to get back into the swing of blog things! Here’s my first It’s Monday, Let’s Catch up of 2026! I really feel like I need to catch up with everyone 😄.

Music Monday

My selections for today’s Music Monday come from very different places. I have been playing the video game Ball x Pit and absolutely loving it! The soundtrack is also genuinely amazing, it’s music I would actually listen to by itself. Bone X Yard is the song from the first level and it’s so catchy! The second song is by an Italian doom metal band. It came on while I was at a friend’s party and my ears immediately perked up; what a banger!

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Just Finished

Ebook

I buddy read Silent in the Grave with Leslie and we both gave it a 4.5 ⭐rating. I’m beginning to think I’ll love anything this author writes.

Currently Reading

Immersive Reading

Continuing my read of The Illuminae Files, currently on Gemina. I’m loving it even though I miss the characters from book 1.

Audiobook

Listening to Brigands and Breadknives with my husband as we paint minis. I’m not loving it as much as Bookshops & Bonedust. Fern feels like a very different character.

Audiobook

Currently taking part in a group read for Braiding Sweetgrass. I’ve been listening to it while I do chores and I’ve been on the edge of tears for basically the entire time, it’s so beautifully told.

Up Next

ARC

My ARC of How to Lose a Goblin in Ten Days is calling to me so I’ll probably pick it up next as it comes out very soon.

Audiobook

We were listening to the first book of Dungeon Craweler Carl but we had to stop when my hold for Brigands and Breadknives came in. So we’ll have to return to it soon!

I really love Music Monday so here’s hoping I can participate more with that meme this year :D! I’m glad!

  1. I keep hearing such wonderful things about Braiding Sweetgrass!
And How to Lose a Goblin in 10 Days is one of the cutest sounding titles 😀

It is wonderful though It’s a longer audiobook that I typically tend to listen to, I prefer to listen to shorter ones But I’ve been enjoying it during any moment that I can. Right?! I thought the goblin book looks so cute too!!! 😀

  2. I hope your brother had a wondeful birthday 🥰 you’ll be unsurprised to hear that I don’t recognise the music again this time. Ive never tried doom metal but the singer seems to have a pretty haunting voice.

Im still thrilled that you loved Silent In The Grave so much. Based on your emotional response Braiding Sweetgrass sounds like a very powerful read too. How were you finding DCC? I hope you manage to get back to it. I was really enjoying Where The Dark Stands Still the year before last then got completely side tracked by my first arc acceptance and I still havent returned to it somehow 🙈

It looks like you’ve added an interesting mixture of books to your shelves lately. I hope you enjoy them all, although in one case that’s obviously not quite the right word. I hope its an interesting read though.

I’m glad you’re getting back into the swing of posting 🥰 here’s hoping I’m finally finding the blogging/reading/bookstagram/life balance at last too 🤞

Thanks, by all accounts he had a good birthday and I enjoyed celebrating with him too! 🙂 ah yes I’m not very surprised but yes her voice is quite haunting, I totally agree.

Yeah I can’t wait to read more from the Lady Julia Grey series and Braiding Sweetgrass has been a lovely read I’ve been enjoying it super slowly but that’s a good thing 🙂 I will say her voice is so soothing that I have to be fully awake to listen because the other day on the bus I was listening and I almost had a nap coz I was too cozy lol.😂

I can’t make up my mind on DCC and my husband and I were listening together but had to pause so we still have to go back to it…I fear I’m not loving it as much as other people seem to but I’m gonna keep giving it a chance.
Oh noo haha I know that feeling though because you kind of want to do so many things at the same time. I hope you’re able to go back to Where The Dark Stands Still soon.

Yes I have added quite a few intriguing titles, thank you and I am reading Genocide Bad and it’s fascinating because I am learning a great deal about deconstructing zionist talking points. Which is pretty much what I was hoping to get out of this book and so I’m pleased and I also really like the way the author explains things.

Yay for both of us then! I’m so glad!:D

      • Im glad to hear it 🥰🥰

Are you carrying on with the series with Leslie? Oh lol I should take a double note of that then. Sounds like something to put on in the background next time I can’t sleep 😂 it sounds like a wonderful reading experience for you ❤️

Aww I’m so sorry to hear that. I have to admit that premise wise I’ve never been 100% convinced that it would be for me personally. Although I’m sure the hype will push me to pick it up eventually. I really hope you get on better with it whenever you return to it. Its always particularly frustrating when you cant click with a hyped book. Although sometimes the hype itself affects your expectations so much that its hard for any book to live up to them.

So true and its just not possible to do it all. Im 100% getting to it at some point this year though.

Thats wonderful, I’m glad you’re getting exactly what you wanted to out of it 🥰

        ❤️❤️
