Magical Readathon: My TBR For Autumn Equinox (Sept) 2024

Magical Readathon: My TBR For Autumn Equinox (Sept) 2024

Hey bookworm friends, the second semester at Orilium Academy is coming up and I’m getting ready! The prompts have been released, my TBR has been cooking and…do you smell that? Yes, that’s the smell of a fresh TBR! Here is my Magical Readathon TBR—pray to the Necromancy Gods that I can stick to it.

My TBR for the Spring semester can be found here.

The Magical Readathon is the brainchild of G from Book Roast on YouTube.

My Character

  • Name: Ravynnia
  • Guild: The Archivists
  • Calling: Necromancy
  • Certification: Novice
  • Background: Urban
  • Province: Darkmeadow
  • Heritage: Iltirian
  • Conduit: Bone
  • Guild’s Legacy: Pact With A God
(Velinas God of Death & Rebirth)
  • Guild Points: 50

In September, Ravynnia will return to Orilium Academy for the Autumn Equinox semester to continue her studies! According to the syllabus, she has to study 5 subjects, each to the specified grade level.

Grade Levels:
O: Ordinary
Q: Qualified
D: Distinguished

The way the levels work is you have to fulfill the prompt for the easier level first to unlock the next prompt. So for her to pass some courses I may only need to read 1 book but for others, I may need 2 or 3 books.

Subject:

Animal Studies: O

Prompt:

Phoenix in Title or Cover

The Phoenix Keeper by S. A. MacLean

This is on my “anticipated releases” list
for the second half of 2024.

comfort zone but I trust his taste.

Subject:

Restoration: O

Prompt:

Night Sky
On Cover

Secrets to Reveal by Tilly Wallace

I’ll be listening to the audiobook 🎧

Subject:

Spells & Incantations: O

Prompt:

This is for an upcoming book tour but I think I’m gonna love it.

Subject:

G mentioned this graphic novel in a ‘Like This Try That’ video and this was already on my GoodReads so easy choice.

  1. This looks like so much fun, good luck with your TBR for it. I’m really going to have to try a Readathon out one day as so many of them look fantastic. I haven’t read any of the books listed here but a few are on my TBR. I’ve seen lots of interest in that Phoenix book so I’ll certainly be interested to hear how you find it. And I’ve yet to read a T. Kingfisher book but when I finally do ill be starting with one of her fairytale based ones. I love the variety of books listed here and I’ll have to look into a few having not heard of them. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that the five star predictions holds true. Have fun 😁

I really need to focus on my library stack but I’m getting back to Medea as soon as I hit send on this comment 😂 then whenever I get through that stack I’ve got Lady Macbeth and The Ending Fires out in September so that’s on my TBR too. Besides that I don’t know but I have lots of options.

Thanks, I am excited. I didn’t manage to read all the books for the spring one so I’m hoping to do better this this around! I know what you mean I’m always tempted to participate in so many that I run across but I physically can’t hahah 😂 I put that phoenix book on hold from my library so I’ll try to read it as soon as I get it! Oh yes good idea, I’m also most interested in her fairy tale offerings! I hope the 5 star is accurate since it’s for a book tour I hope I love it.

That sounds like an awesome reading plan, I hope you love them all 🙂

      • At least you’re trying a fun looking one out though. I’ll have to look into some properly and make an effort to try at least one out next year I think. I hope it doesn’t take too long to come in then. I hope they all end up being fantastic 🤞

        Thank you 🥰

        • Veronica

Yeah I kept hearing about this one and finally decided to try it out this year 🙂 & yes good idea! Thanks 😀

  2. It looks like such a good bunch of books for the readathon, I hope you enjoy all of them. I’d love to read The Phoenix Keeper and Crying in H Mart😁

    • Veronica

Thanks! Yes I hope to love them all too and I hope you love those two as well if you pick them up, Tammy 🙂

  3. This seems fun! I’m starting a buddy read next week, not to mention a grad school class, so I think I’ll leave the epic challenges to you for the moment!

    • Veronica

It is fun but as you said it is quite the challenge! Oh grad school class, that’s fun. What are you studying? And good luck! Also enjoy your buddy read 🙂

  4. Have fun! Your list looks good, I’ve had my eye on Crying in H Mart and I like that cover on Secrets to Reveal.

    • Veronica

Thanks so much 😀 Yes, I’m looking forward to Crying in H Mart but also concerned I’ll need tissues. Secrets to reveal is by an author I’ve enjoyed in the past so I have high hopes.

  5. Nic

I’m too much of a mood reader to do readathons. In the past, when I’ve felt like it, I have seen which prompts the books I wanted to read matched up with and picked my subjects from there. Which usually only lends itself to the Spring “classes”. This year I didn’t even do that, and abandoned the year-long adventure after 4 months. I have a couple of friends from book club who do this properly every year. Maybe next year I’ll join them, but for this year I’m sitting it out.
I hope you enjoy your picks. Good luck reading them all.

    • Veronica

Yes I totally understand! I’m a mood reader who desperately wants to be able to participate in readathons without getting side tracked. And you’re right the autumn semester is harder to achieve as a mood reader here! We’ll see how it goes. Aw well at least you tried and you know what will or won’t work for you 🙂
      Thanks, Nic! 😄

  6. Good luck with the second semester at Orilium. I usually participate but haven’t had the time lately. I miss it.

    • Veronica

Thanks, Zezee! 😄 & True it takes quite a lot of time to plan the tbr and stick to it. This is my first year participating and I’ve been enjoying it a lot 🙂

  7. Woohoo, for a fellow Archivist! This is a great TBR. I just started Phoenix Keeper the other day. I’m not very far in. I wish you all the best with your September reads!! Such a great readathon! I love how she added the purple. 🙂

    • Veronica

Hurray for Archivists!! 📜😆 Oh nice haha I hope you like the phoenix book and I’m excited for it! Thanks and best of luck on your readathon reads too 🙂 Yes, the purple looks so good!!

  8. Good luck with your TBR, I hope you have fun with the Readathon! It’s my favorite Readathon each year 💞 I’m glad I didn’t get the Phoenix prompt, because it sounds difficult, but I remember also having The Phoenix Keeper on my anticipated releases list! I think lots of people are going to read it 😄

    • Veronica

Thanks 🧡 I enjoyed the spring semester so I hope to enjoy this one too, I can see why it’s your fav it’s so well thought out and there’s a lot to it, feels like a full world. & yeah I suppose I’ll read the Phoenix book if my hold arrives on time so we shall see! lol
