New This Month: 15 Books Releasing in December, 2025

Hey bookworm friends! Some of my favourite posts to make are the anticipated release lists that I’ve been making quarterly. So I’ve decided I actually want to make them more often, to keep track of new releases that look interesting to me on a monthly basis. That way I can share more new books and include different genres and age groups—just any upcoming releases that catch my attention or that I’m curious about. Starting with this December, welcome to my first New This Month! The goal is to share them at the end of each month giving a look ahead. Here are 15 Books Releasing in December 2025!

I actually could have just called this post ‘Books Coming Out on Dec 2’ because most of the titles I found come out that day! 😂 I’ve loosely organized them by genre but the format might change in future posts. Additionally, the lists will mostly consist of standalones or start of series but I’ll mention sequels if series I’m actively following publish new installments. Otherwise you might not find too many sequels mentioned.

When one of the sisters falls in love with the ghost, and another banishes him to the Underworld, the sisters are faced with even bigger questions about who they are. 1. Janette

I’m definitely intrigued by the Once and Future Queen. My own most anticipated release is This Brutal Moon by Bethany Jacobs which like the other is, is published on Dec 2nd.

    • Veronica

Yes I’m curious about The Once and Future Queen too, I hope you enjoy it if you pick it up! And Dec 2 is gonna be such a huge publishing day haha! That Bethany Jacobs series sounds amazing only I haven’t read book 1 yet! But I hope to try it soon!

    • Veronica

I’m definitely going to have to agree with you there, I especially am a fan of Canticle’s cover!

  2. Nic

I’m safe here, which makes me both relieved and sad. The former because I really shouldn’t buy more books before the end of the year, and the latter because I rarely see anything new published anymore in SFF that I’m interested in. Long gone are the days when so much is coming out that looks good, and that makes me sad. But at least there is still a massive backlist for me to enjoy.
I hope you like whichever of these you end up picking up and reading.

    • Veronica

Ah I totally understand, such a bittersweet feeling. It sucks that you haven’t found any modern SFF that calls to you but at least the backlists aren’t going anywhere 🙂 Thanks so much, Nic 🥰

    • Veronica

Ah, well them I’m glad to introduce you to potential possibilities hehe 😜

    • Veronica

Thank you, Yvonne! The Happiness Collector is the one that feels the most outside of my comfort zone but it also sounds very intriguing, I agree :D!

  3. I rarely have any anticipated releases in December, so thank you for putting together a list! The Time Hop Coffee Shop looks so cozy 🥰

    • Veronica

Ah well I am glad you found something appealing then! 🙂 It does look quite cozy!💕

  4. Ooh I didnt realise you’d started this feature up already, exciting!! I love anticipated releases posts. Im also not surprised that a lot come out on the same day tbh, I’ve noticed where I am that books generally seem to come out only on Tuesdays & Thursdays 🤔😂 and March is always especially manic release wise.

I love how you set this out by genre too.

A few of these were already on my TBR like Dawn Of The Firebird & Snake-Eater, I’ve just added a few more though. I can never resist vampires after all and im curious about the interconnecting stories and mentions of witchcraft in the last title. I would have added the Peter V Brett one too but Susy’s review already put the series there 😂

I am excited for Better In Black too though. More Shadowhunters is always a cause for celebration 😍

I hope you enjoy all of these.

    • Veronica

I figured I would start it in December because the way I made my lists this year was seasonally, but I didn’t feel like making a winter one since winter crosses over into the new year where I wanted to share them monthly 😅. Yes books do tend to come out on those days :)And yes I look forward to seeing what comes out in March!

Thanks. I originally wanted to make a list of all the types of books that caught my attention but I don’t pay attention to a ton of genres so I may not keep the genre organization, I’m thinking about it 🤔

Ah yes I’m not surprised you have Dawn of The Firebird on your TBR 😉 Ahaha that’s too funny Susy’s review is how I heard about the Peter V Brett book too 😜I’m glad you added a couple to your tbr though and hope that you love them if you get to them 🙂
YESS exactly, I won’t say no to more Shadowhunters! Thanks 💕

      • Ah that makes sense and I totally get where you’re coming from. If I start mine back up it’ll either be this month or next year as I know if I begin later in the year I’ll want to back track and cover the months I missed 😂🙈

Ooh I didnt know the days would be the same for you. Me too!! I haven’t done any specific monthly research but my March list already contains a few of my Most anticipated releases of the year.

Ah right. Sometimes it isn’t 100% clear what genre they’ll be either to be fair. I look forward to seeing your future posts like it though.

😂 look at us in sync again 😂😂thank you 🥰 i always love the excess to make my TBR even bigger 😅
Omg did you see that there are two others out next year too? Not the sequels/new series I’ve been waiting for but two that seemed to appear out of nowhere….although one i think was originally shared online somewhere or something.

        • Veronica

Ahah yes, the one thing that I learned this year the hard way is ‘no backtracking’ if I miss something, too bad because the need to backtrack throws me so off far course for SO long that it’s not fun anymore. 😅

ohh exciting, I bet March will be super fun then 😀 !

Yes exactly and some of them straddle genres, I’ve gone back and forth on how I want to do it. Classic me, always vacillating. LOL. Thanks though :D!!
Ahaha yess that’s too funny 😀 !We do seem to visit the same bookish circles.

Wait what? I saw there was one but I haven’t seen more! Oh my, I will have to go looking! Thanks 😀

          • That makes a lot of sense and is something I need to work on myself. Catching up on everything you miss simply isn’t plausible. I’ve decided to start my posts like this up again next year although not just for the previously mentioned reason. Atm my January list must have at least 30 books on it which is crazy. So I’m hoping to be more selective as to what makes my main list going forward.

I look forward to seeing what makes the March cut for you

They really do. I struggled with my horror TBR on some titles. Lol I’m sure however you decide to go ahead with these posts they’ll be great.
            We do (:

I only came across them when researching my yearly list. There’s Secrets Of Blackthorn Hall, A Sea Of Change and possibly the first in the Wicked Powers trilogy.

          • Veronica

Yeah for sure. Gotta make out peace with missing out on some things and that’s perfectly fine.
Oh exciting, okay! Ahaha my February list is over 35 so I guess I’m not being that discerning either, It’s honestly just a list to inform people these books are coming out because they sound good, they’re in no way a promise that I’ll read them all or even most. Just a lil PSA. 😛

            Hmm yeah that’s valid, lol. & Thanks 😀 !
Hehe I love that we have so much in common lol
AH thank you for letting me know the titles, okay that’s exciting to hear!!

          • I just wish I was better at accepting it. I still seem to be trying to do too much 🙈

Oh wow thats a lot for a short month. I wonder how long mine is 🤔 43 books 🙈 definitely need to be more selective 😂😂yeah mine used to be a bit like that too. If there was a big release that I was in two minds about I’d generally still mention it to help other readers find it.

Lol yes we do seem to.
