Hey bookworm friends! Since it’s Easter weekend, it’s the perfect time to attempt a brand new springy tag I was tagged on. The Spring Equinox Celebrations Book Tag highlights various spring equinox-related traditions throughout the world! Thanks so much Laura, for the tag & for the use of the cute graphics. I enjoyed seeing some of the different ways people honor spring or the new year.
THE RULES:
- Link back to the original creator (The Corner of Laura) and link back to her post (otherwise, the original creator won’t get a notification).
- Thank whoever tagged you and link back to their post
- (Optional) Use the graphics and don’t forget to credit the original creator (Text prompts are at the end of the creator’s post if you’d prefer to use those)
- (Optional) Tag 5 or more other people.
Holi – India and Nepal

A festival of colour celebrating the end of the winter and the colourful season ahead – The most colourful book on your shelves.

The brightest & most multi-colour book in my shelves is the Bloomsbury edition of This Poison Heart!
Nowruz – Various (Persian)
The Persian New Year involving several days of celebrations and family gatherings – A book including or about a big family gathering.

This prompt was a bit hard for me because I don’t read many books about big families. But then I remembered Salt Houses is a multi-generational family saga and there are family reunions throughout. It follows a Palestinian family as they are displaced and we witness the progression of their lives as they move to Kuwait, Amman, Paris, Boston, and Beirut.
Teotihuacan – Mexico

A popular modern tradition to stand atop the pyramid on the Spring Equinox and soak up the sun’s first rays of the morning – A book that you consider a modern classic.

Based on its stunning quality of the prose, immense popularity, and sizeable impact on the trend of myth re-tellings, I’d consider The Song of Achilles to be a modern classic.
Songkran Water Festival – Thailand

A ceremony of cleansing and renewal. The biggest draw for tourists is the giant water fight – A book set on or around water.

Book 2 of the Pendragon Series, The Lost City of Faar, takes place in a vast world that is entirely covered by water and its inhabitants live in floating cities.
Hanami Season – Japan

A yearly tradition around enjoying the transient beauty of cherry blossoms – A book with flowers on the cover.

The Ten Thousand Doors of January is a great book with a flowery cover. If you’re still craving flowery covers, I have a whole list here.
Stonehenge – UK

Druids and pagans gather in their hundreds to celebrate the Spring Equinox. Though most historians are fairly confident that it was likely a religious site, no one is quite certain of what Stonehenge actually is – A book with a good mystery

Cello’s Gate is a sci-fantasy but there are plenty of mysterious elements that keep the characters on their toes and the reader turning the pages. Review.
Since Spring Equinox Celebrations is a brand new tag I’ll tag a few blogger friends but no pressure. If you see this and you want to do it, you’re more than welcome to join in on the fun! 🖤

Feel free to answer any of the prompts in the comments! 🥰Or, what’s a fantasy trope you love that was not included in the tag?
Ahh this looks so much fun! Thank you for the tag I will absolutely do it! I will certainly check some of the books you selected too! Happy equinox and Easter today over here in the East. Maybe you dont celebrate but still wishing you health and happy readings ♡♡
It was fun to think of the answers for the prompts 🙂 & My pleasure, I’d love to see yours if you do it ❣️If youpick any of them up, I hope you enjoy them. Happy Easter to you too, I hope you had a lovely weekend and lots of great books. I do celebrate, not so much in the religious sense but in the sense of seeing lots of family and enjoying spring 🌱!
OMG I never saw your reply until now!! Thank youuuu!! I did do it https://linsperspective.com/2025/04/20/spring-equinox-celebrations-book-tag/ and I had loads of fun! Glad to hear you do, I hope you had a great time with your family and that you have great weather and reads!!
haha oh that’s okay lol! I’ll go check out your answers :D! I definitely had a fun time and thank you 🥰.
Thanks so much for doing my tag! I love The Song of Achilles and The Ten Thousand Doors of January too and Salt Ages sounds fascinating 😊
My pleasure, thank you so much for tagging me! 🙂 Yes those are both so good, I love them too! & Salt Houses was a fascinating read and one of the few generational sagas I’ve enjoyed.
Thanks so much for the tag, sorry I never got the notification. I wanted to try and catch up a bit before truly starting my break and realised I hadn’t read this yet. I’ll definitely do it when I return, even if seasonally it’ll be a bit late then. It looks like such fun though and I loved learning about all of the different traditions surrounding this time of year.
I think I’d heard of the cherry blossom one before and I know Stone Henge but the others are new to me.
Such a wonderful selection of books that match wonderfully too. I’ll have to look at my review index and see what fits family wise. Atm Shadowhunters feels like the best fit though. They don’t have a gathering as such so I’ll see if anything else fits better but they are like a big found family and group at their Institues. I majorly need to get to A Song Of Achilles and need to look that Pendragon series up.
