Hey bookworm friends! Since it’s Easter weekend, it’s the perfect time to attempt a brand new springy tag I was tagged on. The Spring Equinox Celebrations Book Tag highlights various spring equinox-related traditions throughout the world! Thanks so much Laura, for the tag & for the use of the cute graphics. I enjoyed seeing some of the different ways people honor spring or the new year.
THE RULES:
- Link back to the original creator (The Corner of Laura) and link back to her post (otherwise, the original creator won’t get a notification).
- Thank whoever tagged you and link back to their post
- (Optional) Use the graphics and don’t forget to credit the original creator (Text prompts are at the end of the creator’s post if you’d prefer to use those)
- (Optional) Tag 5 or more other people.
Holi – India and Nepal

A festival of colour celebrating the end of the winter and the colourful season ahead – The most colourful book on your shelves.

The brightest & most multi-colour book in my shelves is the Bloomsbury edition of This Poison Heart!
Nowruz – Various (Persian)
The Persian New Year involving several days of celebrations and family gatherings – A book including or about a big family gathering.

This prompt was a bit hard for me because I don’t read many books about big families. But then I remembered Salt Houses is a multi-generational family saga and there are family reunions throughout. It follows a Palestinian family as they are displaced and we witness the progression of their lives as they move to Kuwait, Amman, Paris, Boston, and Beirut.
Teotihuacan – Mexico

A popular modern tradition to stand atop the pyramid on the Spring Equinox and soak up the sun’s first rays of the morning – A book that you consider a modern classic.

Based on its stunning quality of the prose, immense popularity, and sizeable impact on the trend of myth re-tellings, I’d consider The Song of Achilles to be a modern classic.
Songkran Water Festival – Thailand

A ceremony of cleansing and renewal. The biggest draw for tourists is the giant water fight – A book set on or around water.

Book 2 of the Pendragon Series, The Lost City of Faar, takes place in a vast world that is entirely covered by water and its inhabitants live in floating cities.
Hanami Season – Japan

A yearly tradition around enjoying the transient beauty of cherry blossoms – A book with flowers on the cover.

The Ten Thousand Doors of January is a great book with a flowery cover. If you’re still craving flowery covers, I have a whole list here.
Stonehenge – UK

Druids and pagans gather in their hundreds to celebrate the Spring Equinox. Though most historians are fairly confident that it was likely a religious site, no one is quite certain of what Stonehenge actually is – A book with a good mystery

Cello’s Gate is a sci-fantasy but there are plenty of mysterious elements that keep the characters on their toes and the reader turning the pages. Review.
Since Spring Equinox Celebrations is a brand new tag I’ll tag a few blogger friends but no pressure. If you see this and you want to do it, you’re more than welcome to join in on the fun! 🖤
