Hey bookworm friends! I found a perfect tag for the theme of this year’s Wyrd & Wonder: The Desert Island Book Tag 🏝️! I found this tag on The Corner of Laura’s Blog but unfortunately neither she nor I could find the original creator of this tag. I’ll try to stick to only fantasy books for my answers but no promises.
Link-ups
WATER: A Book You Simply Cannot Live Without

This is an extremely difficult question and I took a long time to think about it. When I think of books I can’t live without, it’s all books from my childhood that pop into my head first. So I’m going to have to say Beyond The Deepwoods because it was the first Edge Chronicles book that I read and that series lives in my mind and heart rent free.
FOOD: A Book That’s a Close Second on your Favourites List

My list of favourites isn’t exactly numbered but one that works well for this prompt is The Witch’s Heart. One that I read in my adulthood so it doesn’t have the fervor of childhood nostalgia but it’s more of a quiet, steady love if that makes sense.
SHELTER: A Book That Makes You Feel Home and Safe

I loved the whole Monk & Robot duology but A Prayer for the Crown Shy is my favourite of the two. It makes me feel like I’m home and safe because the characters are settled into their friendship, their adventure is tame and they are mostly busy with simple and pleasant tasks🖤.
FLARE GUN: A Book That You Would Recommend to a Person Who Doesn’t Read

I think Anxious People might be a great book for those who aren’t into reading…yet. The writing is accessible yet beautiful. It’s funny and poignant, and it’s not overly long. This book is entirely outside of my comfort zone but yet I loved it so I think it has a lot of mass appeal.
FIRE-MATCHES: A Book That Warms Your Heart

Thank goodness, finally an easy question! Swordheart definitely warmed my heart, it was so sweet and hilarious. When I wasn’t giggling my butt off, I was busy ‘awwww’-ing.
COMPASS: A Book That Directed You Towards Your Love of Reading
I have been reading for as far back as I can remember and there is no one book that I think can claim this title. The honor of directing me to my love of reading belongs to my mom! She always read me and my brother so many books as we were growing up and then took us to the library where we would borrow piles and piles of picture books.
I tag anyone who wants to do the Desert Island Book Tag! And also those who may need an idea for a Wyrd & Wonder post! 🌊🏝️😛
Let’s chat in the comments!
What’s your desert island book? Or, have you read any ocean-y, pirate-y, or mermaid-y books lately?

These are some tough prompts! But such a great selection/choices too 🙂
I have not read any ocean/pirate/mermaid books in ages – but this reminds me I’ve got several on my shelf waiting to be read … Maybe I should get on that, lol
I don’t have a favourite book, but I do have a favourite series. Every time I am asked the desert island question, I cheat and say that series. While it’s a great read the first time through, it’s a series made for rereading. And at 11 books, each over 500 pages long, that’s a lot of available reading 🙂
Yeah that makes sense as I think it’s much easier to pick a fav series than ONE fav book. Which series is it? and 11 long books can give you a long time of entertainment so that’s pretty clever 🙂
This is a great idea for Wyrd & Wonder – I might be doing this tag! 🙂
Thank you! 😀 I hope you enjoy the tag if you do it 🙂
I might has to do this tag.
My mom directing me to my love of reading too.
Ah, if you do I’d love to see your answers! 🙂 And awww I love that so much 🥰!
You’re right this tag fits the theme of this year’s Wyrd & Wonder perfectly and I adore your answer for the compass prompt 🥰 my mum helped get me into reading by reading to me when I was younger too ❤️ This year I will definitely get to my copy of The Witch’s Heart and I majorly hope I love it as much as you do. And I get how a childhood favourite can feel like a book you can’t live without. There’s something so warm and nostalgic about them. I can’t wait to finally try something by Backman, saying it could get readers into reading too is so intriguing. And I love the Kingfisher choice…even if I do hopelessly still need to try something by the author 🙈
Lovely tag, I’ll save it to hopefully try in the future. Although I probably should finish off the ones I’ve been tagged in first 😅
Thanks, I’m glad you agree and thanks so much 🥰!! Aw, I love that your mom also led you to your love of reading. Oh yay that is extremely exciting, I can’t wait for your thoughts! Yes for sure they’re such a comfort 🙂 I hope you can read a Backman soon and I want to read more too. Well, luckily there’s lots of wonderful T. Kingfisher options for you to try :).
Hehe well there is no rush and I know you have a lot of tags to get to 🙂
I imagine a lot of mums, or dads, helped with that 🥰 I’ll definitely keep you posted. I’ll let you know when I do. I’m trying Beartown first and I hope it doesn’t take me too long to finally get to it. And yes that’s so true, there are so many of then around. I have so many potential start points 😂 I’m going for a fairytale one still but my priority list for the authors titles have really grown lately.
Thank you 🥰 I actually need to look back at what I’ve been tagged in 🙈 I know there’s the Spring one from you to start with but then I had a dozen or so from years back 🙈🙈
Oh, I don’t doubt it at all! 🥰 Okay thanks 🙂
I hope you like Beartown! Yes I feel like with T. Kingfisher almost every book is a good starting point unless it’s like not the first of a series but otherwise you can go where your interest takes you as there are a variety of genres! Haha I feel that, it’s kind of impossible for that list not to grow 😅! Aha for sure there is a lot but you also don’t have to do any that don’ call out to you, no stress.
Thank you. That’s so true, they definitely seem to have covered a lot of genres. And I’ve seen positive things about books in each one too. So true, especially with all the new covers at the moment. It seems to be bringing even more books by them onto my radar 😂 to be fair I think most of the people that tagged me in the older ones don’t blog anymore 😢 but they sound fun and I’m still determined to do them all.

I haven’t read any ocean-y, pirate-y, or mermaid-y books yet 😅 Maybe And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie is the closest I’ve come—it’s an isolated island mystery 😂 I definitely need to explore more genres!
Oh interesting okay, It certainly counts for an Ocean-y/Island-y story. I haven’t read the book for And Then There Were None but I did enjoy the mini series. Well I hope you find a mermaid or pirate story you like 😀
