Hey bookworm friends, I’m now starting to get into the holiday spirit because this weekend is our big decorating day. But sadly, the start of the cold (It’s snowing right now as I write❄) also brings me the end of #scifimonth2024. I’m so sad because I enjoyed my time with it so much! Most of my reads this month stick to the theme in some way so let’s see what I read and what I added to my shelves in November.

What I Read
🐲The Mushroom Knight, Vol.2 by Oliver Bly │📱 (Graphic Novel ARC)
A fun Indie graphic novel with an ecological message. My review.
🚀🐲 Kavithri by Aman J. Bedi│📱 (Book Tour)
An intense grimdark underdog story set in a steampunk world. A debut and first book in a series. My Review.
🚀 Vern, Custodian of the Universe by Tyrell Waiters │📚 (Graphic Novel)
A YA graphic novel about a young man who gets a job cleaning intergalactic messes. It has bright and eye-catching art and a funny story but overall not my favourite.
Satisfies Reading Goal: Random Physical Library Borrows ✔
🚀 The Last Cuentista by Donna Barba Higuera│🎧
I adored this middle-grade sci-fi, it captured my heart. My Review.
🚀 The Darkness Outside Us by Eliot Schrefer │🎧
This YA science fiction romance delightfully surprised me! My review.
🚀 The Original by Brandon Sanderson & Mary Robinette Kowal │🎧
I expected to like this a lot more because it’s by Brandon Sanderson but it didn’t impress me. The concept was cool but I didn’t connect with it enough to appreciate the open-ended ending. It was short and I would have liked it if it was a bit longer to expand on some things.
Stacking The Shelves
This month my stacking of the shelves is way more manageable, hurray! 😁 I have a book for a tour, an ARC, and 2 library borrows. I was so excited to see a message from DAW Books asking me if I wanted an ARC for Miss Amelia’s List! I could not have said YES PLEASE any faster and as it’s the first time a publisher reaches out to me, I’ll be on a high from that all December 🤩😆! For the Library borrows, I’m rereading Leviathan for a buddy read and the other is an attempt to get into the holiday spirit but I don’t know if I’ll have time for it.
Let’s chat in the comments!
Have you read any of these books? Or, what is your favourite book to get you into the holiday spirit?
It’s hard to believe SciFi Month is over so quickly. Congrats on getting the Mercedes Lackey book!
I know it feels like the month really flew by and it was so much fun! Thank you I am so excited!! 🖤
Ooh I hope you enjoy putting your decorations up this weekend. I’m really hoping to get into the festive spirit this month too 🤞 I also hope you enjoy the snow ❄️
Out of what you’ve read I’m most intrigued by Kavithri & The Last Cuentista. I am pretty curious about The Darkness Outside Us too though having seen a few people say how much they love it lately. And I am still kind of curious about Mushroom Knight if I ever manage to get into graphic novels. It’s a shame the Brandon Sanderon book let you down. It’s so frustrating when you can’t connect to a book
Aww yay congratulations on getting a publisher reaching out to you like that, that’s incredible. And I totally relate to the high that it gives you. It’s such a glorious feeling. You totally deserve it 🥰❤️❤️ I’m also going to have to check that book out as the cover instantly intrigued me. How haven’t I spotted it before??
I hope you enjoy all of your reads. Fingers crossed the festive one goes well for you if you get to it.
I hope you have a lovely December.
Yes, so my mother recruits us (my brother and I) to come over to decorate her house and we make a big day out of it with lunch and drinks and stuff so it’s a tradition I really love! I am enjoying the snow it’s very pretty although it’s the kind that doesn’t stay on the ground for very long haha.
Yes those are all ones I would recommend for sure. And oh well, I am not sure if maybe I just prefer his fantasy books rather than sci-fi or perhaps it’s because the book was created to be an audiobook first, and with another author. There are too many variables so I don’t really know why it kind of flopped but it’s okay.
It was so exciting!!haha glad you know what I mean 🙂 and that’s so sweet thank you 🥰!!! It does seem like the type of book you might like too!
Happiest of Decembers to you too, my friend 🙂
