As the top operative for a global shadow government known as the Order, Thea has served and protected the elite 1%. Her life changes suddenly when she escapes the Order with damning evidence of the group’s existence. Now she is on the run for her life, looking for a way to expose what she’s stolen. Fate intervenes when a fortuitous encounter with a tarot card reader leads her directly into the path of a divine being from another realm.
Kit the Fool leaves the Arcana realm for Earth, following visions sent to him from his sisters, Fiona the Moon and Kathryn the High Priestess. As he accompanies Thea on her quest to expose the Order, he is thrust into a cat-and-mouse adventure that captivates his curious and impulsive nature. As does the Sparrow at his side. The stakes are raised even higher when he uncovers a threatening connection to his own people.
Together, Thea and Kit set off to expose the nefarious Order, but along the way, the two find themselves tumbling headfirst into an attraction that defies cosmic logic. How will these two souls from very different worlds defeat the odds stacked against them?

Review
A dual-POV Fantasy Romance based on Tarot Cards.
Back in 2022, I had the chance to read the ARC of The Fool and the Sparrow and I can honestly say I LOVED it! At first, I was a bit worried because I don’t know anything about Tarot but the author is helpful and provides the necessary details without info-dumps. I had fun trying to spot themes and symbolism as the story progressed.🔮
What attracted me to this book in the first place was the plot. It was creative and it captured me from the start. Kit the Fool, a member of the Major Arcana, lives in the Arcana Realm. When he spontaneously undertakes a journey to the Human realm, his fate collides with Thea’s. Unfortunately, she’s on the run from a shadow organization and apparently, also a magnet for trouble.
There are many reasons I will recommend this book but let’s start with the obvious: Kit is absolutely swoon-worthy. I mean, a giant man, who is also incredibly sweet and wholesome but also fun-loving? Sign me up! I also love how the book focuses on the concept of consent. It is a motivator in the decisions the characters make in a variety of situations, not just steamy ones.🔥
Speaking of steam…you’ll certainly find a lot of it here! The chemistry between the characters is palpable, their interactions are sweet and spicy, but not insta-lovey which I really appreciate. Their relationship grows in an organic manner (considering the wacky adventure they find themselves in). If you like fantasy romance and supporting Indie authors, this one is a good bet!

Let’s chat in the comments!
Are you reading any romances today? Or, do you know any other fiction books inspired by Tarot?
Oh I love a book with an education purpose and consent is such a huge one. Great review!
Yes, I really appreciated the care that this author took to be clear about consent in this book without being overly in your face or in any way preachy. Thank you 😀
While this doesn’t sound like a book for me, it does sound like it is handled fairly well.
Old reviews? This is getting hard, so I think I’ll play just this one last time: Map’s Edge, by David Hair (https://dragonrambles.com/2023/04/27/maps-edge/)
Yes, now this one is also self-pub as far as I’m aware and it’s an example of one I really liked! I totally understand, not your type of book and that’s fair 🙂
haah I’m running out of old reviews I can share too now, I don’t know how much longer I can keep this up either😂 Thank you for playing along & let’s check out your review 🖤!
