It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
Just Finished

Finished Dungeon Crawler Carl while puzzling and I’m still unsure how I feel about this book. I didn’t fall head over heels in love with it like I expected to at first. I think I may give the series until book 2 then see if I want to continue.
Currently Reading

Continuing my read of The Illuminae Files, currently on Obsidio. I’m still having an amazing time but I’m not too far into this one yet. But my goodness do they ever introduce too many new characters every time! 😂

I joined a Discworld reading group and this month we’re doing Wyrd Sisters which I just started but it’s already made me laugh a lot and I feel like I want to highlight so many quotes! I got the audio from the library but I feel like since Pratchett’s style involves a lot of clever use of language, I wanted to also read it with my eyes and so far it’s working well 🥰.
Up Next

I’m hoping that I can jump into Umbra soon for an Indie Book Club before February is over.

Cover Reveal
The Wayward Souls of Avalon
After the collapse of Earth sends the last of humanity soaring to Mars, documentarian Jocasta Thorne finds himself trapped in his spaceship on the outskirts of the planet’s orbit. Nearly giving up hope of ever seeing another human again, Jocasta’s quiet life is disrupted when a knock at the bay door breaks through the silence, and the stranger on the other side promises he can get them home.
The Wayward Souls of Avalon is a cozy sci-fi tale about two strangers caught in each other’s orbits and their year-long trip to Mars, perfect for fans of Becky Chambers and “The Darkness Outside Us”.
Stacking The Shelves
Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, whether it be physical or virtual. Reading Reality posts on Saturdays but you can post any day that works for you— don’t forget to visit the link-up on Saturday to join in on the fun!
This time I’ve got a lot of ARCs to add to my shelves as well as a healthy library haul. The Octopus and The Curse of the Dragon Tail Island were both kindly sent to me. Thanks to Two Lions publishing and to author Jonathan Nevair, accordingly. The author of Spindleheart also reached out to me because I reviewed the first book in the series and I’m curious to see what happens next so thanks to T.I. Avens as well! 🖤

Let’s chat in the comments!
What book(s) are you currently reading? Or, what’s the last book you added to your TBR?

I just finished Dungeon Crawler Carl too. I really enjoyed it, but I don’t think it needed to be as long and it is a bit repetitive. I will say though that Princess Donut was my favorite part. Thanks for linking up with me today!
Ahh what a coincidence, I’m glad you liked DCC overall and I agree that it was a bit repetitive at parts! Princess Donut is pretty great! My pleasure 😀 Thanks for stopping by, Lauren 🥰
Always happy to see Pratchett getting a mention!
Ah, yay!! 😀 I’m definitely happy that I’m finally trying more of his books!
I didn’t finish Dungeon Crawler Carl, it was WAY too long and repetitive, and the other books in the series are even longer, lol. I hope you have a nice long weekend!
Okay, that’s the second person that tells me that book is repetitive and I’m so glad that it’s not just me who didn’t love it…I feel like most people rave about it so much and I’m just not seeing what they’re seeing😣. Knowing they only get longer doesn’t inspire confidence either sadly 🙁 Thanks, I did have a good long weekend I hope you had a great weekend too!
Wyrd Sisters is such fun. I started the Discworld series with the Witches books, and it was a great decision.
I’m having fun with it already and I’m only at the very start! I’m so glad to hear that it was a good decision because I started with The Colour of Magic and it did not go so great so now it’s time for the Witches 😛 !
I love watching the Olympic ice skating, congratulations to your friends on a stellar performance.
I think yours is the first criticism of Dungeon Crawler Carl I’ve read, I am still hoping to read it though.
Wishing you a lovely reading week
I’m so glad you watched and enjoyed the performance too, I agree it was spectacular! 🥰
Yeah sadly I feel very much on the outside with my opinion of DCC although I’ve now seen some other people less than in love with it and it made me feel better lol. I definitely say it’s worth trying out for yourself to make up you own mind about it and certainly hope you love it more than I did 🙂
Thank you and I hope you have a lovely reading week too :D!
The Illuminae Files is just fantastic❤️
I definitely agree 😀 Loving it! Maybe the 3rd book a bit less than the others but still, so good!!
Oh wow that’s amazing about your friend at the Olympics. I remember you mentioning them before but didnt realise they’d be skating this year. I’ll have to check the performance out sometime as I’ve only seen bits and pieces of everything.
Im sorry to hear that you’re still uncertain about DCC. I’ve never been fully convinced that the premise would work for me, despite the hype, and hearing that it hasn’t won you over makes me even more nervous.
I also love hearing how well Wyrd Sisters is going for you. That’s one of the two series arcs within the world that I have earmarked as a potential starting point for me.
I really want to get back to puzzling sometime too. Hopefully I’ll get to one next week sometime 🤞
I hope you enjoy all of your arcs and library books too 🥰🥰 the cover for Invasive Species has me intrigued and I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for your thoughts on it.
I hope you have a lovely end to this month and start of the next one. Can’t believe we’re nearly in March already!!
Yes it was so very exciting and I’m so happy for them!:D Great idea, If you have a hard time finding the performances let me know and I can send them to you! 🙂
Ah yeah I’m no longer uncertain about DCC, actually the more I think about it the more I don’t want to continue it, sadly I’ve dropped out of the group read but I’ll have to write up a review for it next week.
Yes they do say that Witches is a good starting point and I’m starting to see why! 🙂
Here’s hoping you can get some puzzling done, too!
Thanks so much, Charlotte 🥰 Yeah, I actually got an email from a marketing agent asking if I wanted to read that one and I said yes even though before that I’d never heard of it lol. 😂
I know, I can’t believe it’s also March as well, I hope the same for you too 😀 !!
Thank you 🥰 they usually have some of the events on iPlayer so I’ll check there & YouTube tomorrow and if I fail to find it I’ll let you know.
Im sorry to hear that but not surprised after seeing you mention it in your wrap up. Im sure another group buddy read will come along to intrigue you for something else soon.
Thank you 🥰
Oh wow how exciting. I really hope you enjoy it 🤞
The years going by crazily fast. And thanks 🥰🥰
