Hey bookworm friends. It’s April 1st and you know what that means: It’s time for the Spring Equinox semester at Orilium Acadamy! That’s right, the Magical Readathon is back and this time I’m switching my calling! Personally, the necromancy course load was too heavy for my reading pace, I need a calling that won’t burn me out. The in-world reasoning for the switch is that Ravynnia got tired of all the death and decided to follow another one of her passions. She will now be devoting her time to becoming the best Aeldia Excavationist she can be! She will travel all over the world looking for fossils and traces of old magic, and trying to understand the distant past of her land. Here is my TBR for Spring Equinox 2026, only four books, that’s way more manageable. Ravynnia breathes a sigh of relief but that doesn’t mean she can neglect her studies!
My previous Magical Readathon adventures can be found here.
The Magical Readathon is the brainchild of G from Book Roast on YouTube.
My Character

My TBR For Spring Equinox 2026
Animal Studies
Subject:
Shadow Wolves.
Prompt:
Wolves (Cover, Title, or Content).

Muscles & Monsters In by Ashley Bennett
Werewolves are wolves too 😉.
Conjuration
Subject:
Inspiration Boosts.
Prompt:
Pick first enticing book you see on social media.

Lucky Day by Chuck Tingle
I scrolled and this was the first book I saw that I want to read. I also already have it so that’s easy.
Lore
Subject:
Ancient Speculative Lore.
Prompt:
Book With a Dystopia or Utopia.

The Dispossessed by Ursula K. Le Guin
I mean, ‘An Ambiguous Utopia’ is literally the subtitle. Plus my husband recently read it and liked it and I’ve been wanting to read more Le Guin!
Restoration
Subject:
Restorative Adoration.
Prompt:
Ask for five 5⭐ reads and pick one.

The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst
The 5⭐reads I was given by friends are: Lost Daughter of Sparta, Exhalation, Sword of Kaigen, and The Spellshop. I’m in a cozy mood but also the Spellshop was the easiest one to get a hold of at my library.
Let’s chat in the comments!
Are you participating in The Magical Readathon this year too? Or, what are you currently reading?

The fun thing about The Disposessed and that category is that you have two dystopias, only one of them thinks it’s a utopia. XD
Ahaha perfect, then this double works for the prompt then!! XD I feel like often utopias in stories are actually dystopias lol
I’m participating in this too! Of these I’ve only read The Spell Shop which I really enjoyed. I hope you like it too!
Oh yay, that’s so fun! 😀 Glad to hear you enjoyed The Spellshop, thank you! 🙂
I loved The Spellshop! I hope you enjoy your books, they all sound good😁
I’m so glad to hear that, I’m really looking forward to it! Thank you 🥰
I hope you enjoy The Dispossessed. It’s one I definitely want to read, but I have decided to read Le Guin’s Hainish novels in publication order. Not because I think they are a series like some do, but because I want to see the evolution of Le Guin’s ideas and writing.
I tried doing Magical Readathon in 2022 and 2023, but I stopped because I found the prompts too restrictive. This year seems to be quite a bit better (I like the change to the social media one), but I also much prefer the way the higher callings are set up. I was chatting with a couple of friends when the video came out. They are both in their final year so will do the higher callings next year. I said I might choose a higher calling this year and just call myself a transfer 🤣
Thanks, I know my husband liked that one so I’m looking forward to giving it a try too and I liked the Left Hand of Darkness so I have high hopes. Ah that’s valid and makes sense. I don’t think I’ll bother reading the Hainish Cycle in any sort of order at this point lol.
Ah that’s fair. I don’t mind restrictive prompts given that I hardly ever stick to TBRS anyway but I understand why you like the hardest reading challenge that you do because those prompts seem more broad. I also like that there are higher callings giving people more flexibility! I personally have yet to ‘graduate’ from any calling but I’m hoping that with an easier calling I’ll be able to do it 😂. I hope you have fun if you do ‘transfer’ to a higher calling 😀 Thanks so much for checking out my post, Nic.
Good luck with your TBR and new Calling! 🥰 I loved The Spellshop so much, so I hope you end up enjoying it as well!
Thank you so much! I am super excited for The Spellshop and I hope I end up loving it too! I was holding off on starting it coz I didn’t feel like starting yet more series but now it’s time!
Good luck with the readathon, I really hope you have a wonderful time with it and think your characters reason for switching calling is a perfectly well reasoned one.
I really wanted to join in with this, this year. But when I looked at the creators page mid March there weren’t any updates so I didn’t sort my character out in case it wasn’t going ahead. Now I’ve missed my chance yet again 🥲
I hope you enjoy all of your choices. It looks like an interesting mix. I’ve been meaning to try something by Ursula K. Le Guin for ages so I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for your thoughts on that one. It’ll be interesting to see what you think of The Spellshop too having read that myself last year.
Thanks so much! & yes haha I needed to switch for real life reasons but then decided that was an opportunity for my character to go through some changes lol. Oh no that’s so sad 🙁 But you can always join in the fall if you can catch that semester in time!
Here’s hoping! & I’m glad you think it’s an interesting mix! I’ve already had to change one choice (I realized later my husband wanted to read Lucky Day in a real life book club with friends so I’m saving it for then!)
Oh awesome okay I’ll have to let you know my thoughts on both of those when I’m done :D!
