Horror Movies & TV Shows I Want to Watch

Hey bookworm friends! For my next Summer of Horror offering, I want to turn to movies and TV shows. I generally don’t watch many scary or creepy things during the summer but I do love making a watchlist every year for a more atmospheric seasonal screen time in the fall. So I was thinking I would create my list in advance and have it ready for when September rolls along (time flies by anyway so at least I’ll be prepared thanks to Tammy 😉). I also typically never share my watchlists so this is a first 😊.

Werewolf by Night (2022)

I heard about this Marvel TV special on Lauren’s blog Always Me and even though I don’t watch MCU stuff anymore, it sounds really good and it’s a standalone so it went directly on my list! I love a good werewolf story.

Forever Knight (1992-1996)

Lauren is full of good recommendations , another one from Always Me (thank you)! This is on my list because it has similarities with Blood Ties (another detective vampire show set in Toronto). Plus it’s from the 90’s. I want it in my eyeballs now.

Nosferatu (1922)

I watched the 2024 Nosferatu last year and, to my surprise, I liked it! So now I’m curious about the OG and I heard it holds up.

Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992)

I’ve seen stills of this movie and the aesthetic looks amazing. Like a lot of 90’s media, I haven’t seen it because I was a baby when it came out so I just skipped by it. Gotta fix that.

Wendell & Wild (2022)

For me, Halloween = Children’s movies. They’re perfect to put you in that nostalgic ‘telling scary stories’ (but not too horrifying) mood. I like stop motion movies and this looks cute.

Only Lovers Left Alive (2013)

Another one I want to watch for the aesthetic. And the cast. Vampires. Romance. I’m in. Is it a horror? I’m not sure but with vampires and blood that surely counts…right?

Frankenstein (2025)

I really wanted to watch it when it came out and still haven’t. I’ve loved a few other Del Toro movies so I have high hopes for this one.

The Witch (2015)

I kind of feel like I’m being brave by putting this on my list but: 1. my friend assures me I can handle this (If I can watch Nosferatu I can do this one too) and 2. I really want to meet Black Phillip.

Ginger Snaps (2000)

I watched this a few times when I was a kid but I haven’t seen it since so I want a re-watch. I remember thinking it was scary but cool.

The Cabin in the Woods

My husband introduced me to this movie when we first started dating since it’s one of his favourites. But it’s been years so this is another I want to re-watch.

  1. I hope you enjoy Werewolf By Night and Forever Knight! Plus, Frankenstein was my favorite adaptation of the story (so far). I think you’ll be able to handle The Witch as well. Happy watching! 🙂
