Hey Bookworms, Happy first day of spring! That Artsy Reader Girl hosts Top Ten Tuesday and today’s theme is perfect for warmer days and new growth: Books on my Spring TBR, 2024. I am hoping to read some new releases as well as some backlist books. Time will tell if I get to all of them!
The Backlist Books
01
Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb
Epic Fantasy
Now that I read (and adored) Assassin’s Apprentice I have to keep up with the Fitzalong hosted by LiteraryDiversions.
02
Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare
YA Fantasy/Steampunk
I’m doing a buddy reread of the Shadowhunters Chronicles for the nostalgia. This one is coming up next!
03
The Light Fantastic by Terry Pratchett
Satirical Fantasy
I read The Colour of Magic last year and didn’t continue my Terry Pratchett journey even though I still want to. This one is a long time coming.
04
Witch Hat Atelier, Vol. 11 by Kamome Shirahama
Seinen Manga
Witch Hat is the first manga I ever tried and I loved it. I’ll be continuing where I left off last year.
05
Monstrous: A Transracial Adoption Story by Sarah Myer
Graphic Novel Memoir
I just started this graphic novel which was recommended to me by a friend for my 12 friend recommendations challenge.
The New Releases
06
Play of Shadows by Sebastien De Castell

I’ve heard great things about this author so I’m curious to try his new series.

Someone You Can Build A Nest In by John Wiswell
Fantasy Romance/Horror Adjacent
A monster falling in love with a human trying to kill her? I need it. Plus I love anything that’s about shapeshifters.

The Last Murder At The End Of The Road by Stuart Turton
Sci-Fi Mystery
The Six (and a Half) Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle was one of my favourite books the year I read it so I want to read more from this author.

09
Clytemnestra’s Bind by Susan C. Wilson
Mythology Retelling
I love Greek Mythology and even though retellings are everywhere, I’m not sick of them yet! I have the ARC on NetGalley.

10
Lost Ark Dreaming by Suyi Davies Okungbowa
Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi
I’ve been trying to get more into eco-literature and this sci-fi with themes of climate change seems to fit the bill. I have the ARC on NetGalley.

Have you read any of the books in my spring TBR? Tell me one of your most anticipated reads for this spring in the comments!
The Light Fantastic sounds good.
Here is my Top Ten Tuesday.
I’m really looking forward to Someone You Can Build A Nest In, also! I love Wiswell’s short stories.
Happy reading! Here’s my TTT this week.
Ah, I’ve never read anything by the author but I should go hunt down those short stories, Thanks đ !!
It looks like you have some fun reading ahead of you. I hope you enjoy all of these.
Thanks so much, I hope so too đ
Monstrous has a cool cover.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
I agree, and the art inside of it is fantastic as well! Great, I’ll go check it out !
The Farseer Trilogy is a source of a lot of hot debates within my book club, so it’s always fun to see all the differing opinions about it. I hope you enjoy it!
Oh, I feel like I see very differing opinions for it all over the place but so far I fall firmly in the “I love it” camp đ lol Thanks!
Witch Hat is a fun and cute saga, I also have to catch up
Yes, it’s adorable but also gets much darker than I was expecting. I am excited to see what happens next!
Oh, you’ve got so many great books to look forward to! I really enjoyed The Light Fantastic, but I never went further in the series. One of these days…
“One of these days” is basically the same thing I’ve been saying about Discworld for forever haha!! Thanks đ
The Last Murder is one that caught my attention too. I hope you love all these!
Oh nice, yeah it sounds fascinating and thank you đ
I love Witch Hat Atelier! I am only five volumes in, but it’s my favorite manga. Someone You Can Build a Nest In is on my TBR and I can’t wait to pick it up. I hope you enjoy all these!
It’s my favorite Manga too (OK it’s the only Manga I’ve ever read but shh đ). Yes that one sounds so weird in the best way possible. Thank you I hope you enjoy your TBR too!
I’m interested to see reviews of The Last Murder at the End of the World. I tried Turton’s last book and it was impossible for me to get into. I’m curious to see if this one will be a better fit! I hope you enjoy your spring reads!
Yeah I feel like his books are very love them or hate them. SO far I’ve seen kind of mixed early reviews for it but I am still very excited myself! đ Thank you
This is a great TBR! I really, really want to read Robin Hobb! I’ve had Assassin’s Apprentice for years and haven’t picked it up yet. I’ve also wanted to read Sebastien De Castell for so long too! I hope you enjoy all of these.
Thank you! Well if you really want to read Hobb I would definitely recommend her! & I only heard of Sebastien De Castell recently but I’ve heard great things so I hope we both give him a try haha! Thank you đ
Oh yeay. I love seeing Terry Pratchett and Robin Hobb on your list. Two of my favorite authors (and series).
Ahaha that’s so awesome, well I am glad and I hope to read more from them in the near future đ
