Music Monday
I’ve been listening to my Halloween playlist these days so I’ll be sharing a couple songs from that list today 👻. They are songs that I could listen to at any time but I think are particularly relevant for the season.
1. A recent discovery for me but I enjoy that it’s both heavy and high energy at the same time!
2. Deeply atmospheric and gothic and I’m always a fan of a deep voice 🖤.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
Just Finished

I started this series at the start of October and adored the first book so I jumped directly into the sequel, Murder on the Lamplight Express. I listened to the audiobook on a train and it was so fun! These steampunk sci-fantasy mysteries have fantastic characters and twists.

I also recently finished Winnie-The-Pooh: The Graphic Novel. The adaptation into this format was well done and the art is clearly inspired by E. H. Shepard’s original with its own spin. I have a huge soft spot for Pooh and friends but I had forgotten just how charming and funny they are! A good way to introduce new generations to the Hundred Acre Wood.
Currently Reading

Doing a Dracula re-read with a couple of friends and enjoying it a lot so far. I read it for the first time many years ago and barely remember the details so I’ve loved revisiting everything with an adult eye.

I’m finally reading the 14th volume of Witch Hat Atelier and it’s stressing me out in the best way! The previous volume wasn’t my favourite but now we’re back on top form!

Gideon the Ninth is one I’ve been wanting to read for forever so I’m super glad it was picked for my IRL friend book club. I started it yesterday and only 3 chapters in but I’m already obsessed with the way this author describes everything!
Up Next

My read-through of Wynd continues and Book Four will be coming up soon!

Also coming up soon is a buddy read of Bless Your Heart which I’m super excited about! I’m hoping it’s everything that I wanted from The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires but it didn’t deliver🤞🏼.

Stacking The Shelves
Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, whether it be physical or virtual. Reading Reality posts on Saturdays but you can post any day that works for you— don’t forget to visit the link-up on Saturday to join in on the fun!
I’ve missed doing these STS updates so I’m happy to say I’ve got two of my shelves to stack this week. My library borrows and my purchased e-book shelves are getting a bit of love and attention with two books each 😊! I keep an eye on the Google Play app for when books I want go on deep discounts and that’s why I jumped on those two titles.

Purchased EBooks
- The Strange Case of the Alchemist’s Daughter by Theodora Goss
- When The Magic Comes by Shereen Vedam
Let’s chat in the comments!
What are you currently reading? Or, what’s on your STS? If you participated in any of these memes this week feel free to share your links below 🖤.

If you’re anything like me, gotta take advantage of that getting things done energy as often as you can 😊
Love the Halloween playlist idea!
I used to read more steampunk. I need to get back to that. Added Morgan Stang to my list.
I read through some of your One-Book-Per-Year list on another page—so many good books! I, too, loved Library at Mount Char, among several others you mentioned. I also need a reread of Dracula, but I’m not sure I’ll get to it this year.
Hope you enjoy all the other books you’re waiting on and/or already reading.
Oh for sure, I totally agree, gotta harness that energy when you can! I love making playlists for different vibes so I’m glad you like the Halloween playlist idea too.
I really love Steampunk stories though I’ve read a few lately that were duds so I need to read more and I’m just so happy this series has been great so far. The world is a very foggy and dark and there are all kinds of monsters but also strange “scientific advancements” that are just normal in this world and I love the atmosphere and tone. Now want to read anything Morgan Stang writes.
Ahh thank you, that’s so kind! 🙂 Library at Mount Char is such a weird but great book, glad you liked it as well! 😀
Hmm maybe another year you’ll get a chance to do your Dracula reread. Thanks so much, Cheryl! 🥰 I hope you’re enjoying all your current reads as well.
Oh nice! Mostly new to me reads but I have been seeing a bit of The Unicorn Hunters around! I hope you enjoy these new reads and your current lineup as you get to read them!
Thanks for visiting my Sunday post!
I haven’t heard either of these songs before, but they both really worked for me. Also, Witch Hat Atelier is so much fun – I need more. 🙂 Thanks for linking up with me!
You’ve got some great looking books on the go here. And well it never hurts to add to the shelves. Happy reading.
I think a lot of people are reading Winnie the Pooh again now! Always worth it.
I’m having a very slow reading month so far. I’m either too tired or too restless to concentrate for long.
I hope you enjoy your books. They look really good. Have a great week!
