It’s Monday, Let’s Catch Up │#18

Hey bookworm friends. This weekend was the first in a long time where I had zero plans and it was delightful. My husband and I had some puzzling/audiobook time, and we enjoyed a long walk with our pup since the weather was warm. It was so cozy and much appreciated since May in general was non-stop busyness. And now, just in time for the first Monday of the month: It’s Monday, Let’s Catch up!

I had been periodically checking the internet to see when it was coming and there is finally a solid date!

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Just Finished

Physical

I loved Hollow Kingdom. It was unlike anything I’ve ever read, the story was creative, the humour was up my alley, and the weird writing style was incredible!

Currently Reading

Ebook

I’m currently on Vol. 2 of Unfamiliar and it’s a cute graphic novel about young witches finding themselves and making friends. The art is adorable.

Up Next

Physical

Where The Red Fern Grows is my IRL book club’s pick for June. I’m wary of it because I’m so scared bad stuff is going to happen to the dogs. If anyone has read this one please let me know if I have to be prepared for devastation or not.

Stacking The Shelves

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, whether it be physical or virtual. Reading Reality posts on Saturdays but you can post any day that works for you— don’t forget to visit the link-up on Saturday to join in on the fun!

I don’t have too many books for STS this week but I got one new ebook and a couple of library borrows to shout about 😃. The Last Murder at the End of the World is one I borrowed from the library previously but had to return before I read it so I’m giving it a second shot!

That’s awesome, I’m not surprised and I can definitely see why. I enjoyed it A LOT! How do you feel about Feral Creatures?

    • Veronica

Honestly it was so nice, thanks 🥰. Thanks for visiting my blog today and happy June!

  1. Kathy M Martin

I’ve enjoyed The Glass Library series. I enjoy historical fantasy. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

    • Veronica

I’m glad to hear you’ve enjoyed that series, Kathy! I’m looking forward to trying it out :). Thanks for leaving your link!

  2. Ooh, Unfamiliar looks super cute. I’ll have to keep an eye out for that one! And I know nothing about The Glass Library, but I’m immediately tempted, because… library.

    • Veronica

It was quite cute, the plot was a tad simplistic but I enjoyed it and the characters and art were adorable. Lovely before bed reading. Ahaha yes ‘library’ is why I want to read it too 😂.

  3. Meezan

The Librarian of Crooked Lane looks interesting! Happy reading and have a great week! 🙂

    • Veronica

I’ve just started it but I’m already enjoying it 🙂 Thank you, happy reading to you too and Happy June!

  4. Janette

Glad that you had such a nice weekend. Enjoy all of your books. Whispers of Ruin definitely looks interesting.

    • Veronica

Thank you, Janette 🙂 ! Yes, I’m definitely intrigued by that one! I hope you have a great week!

  5. Ahhh!!! The Glass Library!! 😀 I loved that series so much, and am a little jealous you’re getting to read it for the first time.

    • Veronica

Ah, yay I’m so glad you love that series! I’m enjoying it so far and I’m definitely intrigued and already really like the main character! 😀

    • Veronica

Oh yay, I didn’t know you liked these bands too, how exciting we have more in common! 🥰

    • Veronica

I did! Thank you, Leslye 🙂 ! It’s almost weekend again but I hope you did too hehe

  6. Your quiet weekend with puzzling and a long dog walk sound lovely, especially after such a busy month. Once again I don’t recognise the music and think I’ll have to accept that the few times that I do are probably flukes 😂😂 after all there’s been two out of a dozen or more I think 🙈

Ooh so glad to hear you enjoyed Hollow Kingdom. I know other people who also did but have never got around to trying it myself. I hope the dogs are safe in your book club read too 🤞 I get the fear as I panic when I see animals on eerie covers too.

I also hope you enjoy your library books and new ebook. I’ve been meaning to read the Stuart Turton’s debut for the longest time and have that title on my TBR too as it sounds so original. Can’t wait to hear what you think of it.

    • Veronica

Yes, I love plans and doing stuff with friends but honestly sometimes a quiet weekend is the best 🥰. Oh gosh, I know 😅To be fair one of these bands is a repeat I’ve already mentioned before so that doesn’t help lol.😂 Haha I think we need to accept our taste in books is where our crossover lies and our taste in music must be quite opposite. And actually that’s the way I’m like with my best friend irl too 😂.

Yes, it was a success and I’m happy about it! 😀 I will say, I decided not to read my book club book after all, I asked some of my Instagram friends who know my tastes and I trust their opinion and they unequivocally said “This book is not for you” so I am going with their advice. Probably saving myself some heartbreak there.

Thank you!! I’m excited for those ones! Stuart Turton’s debut is still one of my fav mysteries ever! Will definitely update you when I’m done, thanks 🥰!

      • Yes its always lovely to get a bit of relaxing ‘me’ time. Very true, I think we will have to accept that 😂 and thats true, it would be pretty odd if we had everything in common.

Ah probably for the best. Its not worth it to upset yourself over a book that others who know you don’t think you’ll enjoy. Hopefully the next book club choice will be more your style.

Yay enjoy 🥰 I’ll have to make an effort to get to that one by the end of the year. Its truly ridiculous that I haven’t read it yet 🙈
