Queer Books I Loved Since Last Pride Month

Queer Books I Loved Since Last Pride Month

Hey bookworm friends! One of my favourite posts to make every year is thinking back on all the queer books I read and enjoyed in the last year. I normally post it on Instagram but as I’m not really active on there right now, I wanted to dedicate a blog post to it. I recently saw Charlotte from Bewitching Books, Ravenous Reads do a fun post where she challenged herself to describe books in 5 words and I loved the idea! So I’ll be taking inspiration from that and highlighting each book with 5 words only. So, here are all the queer books I loved since last pride month, and remember to read queer all year! 🌈

It was really great and so unique, too! I hope you find more to like in my list haha 🙂

Both of those are cozy and hit me in the feels. The first one is a zoomed in story set in an epic world and the second book is more of a supernatural rom-com 🙂 !

  1. You’ve done wonderfully with the five word challenge. Thanks for linking to my post too 🥰 ‘Gruesome Yet Wholesome; Strangely Romantic.’ naturally has me intrigued. It sounds like such an unexpected combination. The medieval witch one sounds cute. The way that you’ve described The Vanished Birds sounds especially intriguing too. ‘Deliciously Demonic Romance, Hilariously Human’ sounds like another interesting mash up too, I’m intrigued. It sounds like you’ve read some wonderful queer books in the last year. A couple I’ve loved are The Fox And The Devil, Bury Our Bones In The Midnight Soil and Hungerstone. Apparently I have a soft spot for sapphic vampire tales 😂

Thanks, Charlotte! Your post really inspired me, it was so great! 🖤.
Yes Someone You Can Build A Nest in was super unexpected in a lot of ways but ultimately I really enjoyed it!
The Medieval Witch one IS super cute but not before it’s super devastating at the start, fair warning.
Thank you. I realized I described some by how they made me feel but other by what they’re about. It was a really challenging way to think of a book, 5 words only! I’m even more impressed by how amazing your descriptions were!

Ah yes the Demon of Beausoleil is a standout for me so far this year and I got to meet the author not long ago at a comic convention, it was so cool! 🥰🥰🥰
I did indeed read a lot of wonderful ones! And ahah I did sense a theme in your favourites but that’s awesome, I want to read them!! Thanks for sharing your favs🖤.

      • Aww thank you 🥰
I’ll definitely have to check it out sometime.
Ah thanks for the heads up about the devastating start.
Its definitely tricky to do, especially with going for exactly five words. I’m really impressed with how wonderfully you’ve managed it too.
Yay thats amazing!! I love that you got to meet an author of one of the standout, how exciting 🥰🥰
I hope you enjoy them whenever you get a chance to pick them up.

        • Veronica

If you do check it out, I can’t wait to see what you think of it!
Ah yes, you’re welcome, it took me a bit by surprise ngl.
          Thank you so much🥰
Me too, I never expected to get to meet her when I read that book but I got lucky that she attended the event and that I was able to go, funny how life works sometimes! 🙂

    • Veronica

They were all really fun and I need to read more by Wiswell, I have his Wearing the Lion so it’s probably next!

    • Veronica

It was quite a unique story honestly, I enjoyed it. A bit shorter than I would have liked but it had a lot going for it.

  2. Cat

I’m not sure if I could do that challenge, but that was really fun to read (even if I read FERRETLY Anti-Empire, Beautifully Heart-Breaking 😂 I know that’s not a word). I would probably choose “Red and the Wolves” from your description

    • Veronica

Ahah that’s hilarious! Ferrets who are anti-empire honestly sound amazing, I’d read a book about that! Either way I’m glad you enjoyed reading my attempt haha, thank you 😊. Awesome, Red and the Wolves was an enjoyable read so glad it sounds good to you too!

  3. I’ve not read any of these. Might check out the Nest one. I did read a Queer book this month too – it was chosen for a queer book club but the central relationship is male/female, tho the female dates both. So I’m not sure I would class it as a queer book, rather a book that includes some queer characters, if you get what I mean. Her bisexuality isn’t really part of the story, if you get what I mean.

    • Veronica

I do recommend the Nest one haha! Oh, what was the title of the book you read? I see, I guess it might have had better representation if the bi character got more focus but I can also appreciate that their bisexuality isn’t part of the plot just a part of who she is and that’s also kind of nice 🙂 Was the book club poorly received by the book club or did people enjoy it? Thanks for visiting my blog, Lydia 😄!

  4. What an interesting way to do a round-up of books! I haven’t read any of these. I have read some queer books, but they tend to be more literary novels.
Popping over from Book Worms Monthly.

    • Veronica

Thank you, Sarah :)! Amazing, the genre might be different but the representation is still present and that’s the important part :D! Thanks for popping by 🥰!

    • Veronica

Thanks, Olivia!! I love a twist on a fairytale as well, I enjoyed Red and the Wolves a lot.

  5. Jimenez has become a must read author for me. Both of his books are masterpieces. Lunar Boy & Someone to Build a Nest In were both high on my list this year as well!

  6. What a fun list! I’ve added Pumpkin Spice & Poltergeist to my TBR 🙂
