Hey bookworm friends. I hope you’ve all had a nice day; I’m happy to see summer in the northern hemisphere again! I just came back from a long afternoon walk in the sunshine and thus it’s the perfect time to think about my summer TBR! I looked at my upcoming book club reads, buddy reads, and library holds to see what’s coming up the bookish pipeline for me. Here are my top 10 books I want to read this summer!

Books I Want to Read This Summer
1. To Be Taught, If Fortunate by Becky Chambers – I submitted it for my friend book club and there’s a high chance it’ll get picked for either July or August 🤞🏼.
2. Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare – My buddy read of the Shadowhunters continues and we’re about to start The Last Hours.
3. Dreadful by Caitlin Rozakis – Planned buddy read for July.
4. Hell’s Heart by Alexis Hall – I’ve been waiting for months for this hold and it’ll likely be ready for August.
5. The Unicorn Hunters by Katherine Arden – This hold will also probs be ready soon-ish.
6. The Iliad by Homer (Emily Wilson’s Translation) – I bought this one a few months ago so I’m putting it on the summer tbr and hopefully that’ll be the kick I need.
7. Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle – Hoping to fit it in for Summer of Horror
8. A Ghastly Catastrophe by Deanna Raybourn – It’s almost my turn for the newest Veronica Speedwell audiobook!
9. The Untitled Books by C. J. Archer – I’ve been listening to The Glass Library and enjoying it, book 3 is up next.
10. Think of England by KJ Charles – I have the e-book and it’s short so I’m planning on reading it on vacation.

I only read Chain of Gold of your list and that book felt like a beast to me. Thankfully, I enjoyed the sequels way better!

Wow, the Iliad! Have fun with that, I’m curious to see how it goes. And I have heard good things about Dreadful and The Unicorn Hunter😁
I’ve tried the Iliad before with a translation from the ‘60s and had a terrible time with it so I’m desperate to give it another try. Judging by the first page I glanced at, it already looks much better. 🤞🏼I’m definitely hoping to share my thoughts 🙂 Yes, me too here’s hoping they’re as good as they sound. 😁
Someday I’ll read a Chuck Tingle book. I used to follow him on social media back when I used social media. He was funny.
I do enjoy his sense of humour 🙂 and that’s cool, I see some of his posts from time to time! I hope you love any of his books if you do try them 🙂

The Iliad is not exactly a beach read (I haven’t read it myself … yet?). Hopefully this translation will be working better for you, so you can enjoy it this time round!
Ahah no I don’t think so either, it’s very much an “I need to pay attention and maybe write notes” book but summer seems like a good time for that too :). Thank you, I hope so too!

I really am, I’m now super invested in the Sylvia’s background and the mystery around that and her “relationship” with Gabe. Plus the world building is great!

The concept sounds really fun, I hope you get to try Dreadful too and oh yay Kobo buddy! Most people I know have kindles lol. A friend recommended me Think of England and it seems like the exact type of thing I want to read on vacation, can it be time yet? 😝

Enjoy all your summer reads! I’ve really been wanting to read the Veronica Speedwell books. Do you always listen to them on audio, or do you just read whatever? I’m curious if the audio is worth it. I love listening to books while I crochet or cross stitch. 🙂

I finished The Unicorn Hunters recently and loved it! Dreadful was also a fun and quirky read, I hope you enjoy them all.

I don’t know why but there’s something about the title + cover of that KJ Charles book that kind of gives me the giggles. We love KJ Charles though! 😍 I also need to read Dreadful and I’m so excited for The Unicorn Hunter—it sounds so good and I love that cover?! I started Chain of Gold the other day and I’m already super enjoying it so I hope you enjoy Chain of Thorns! & Yess here’s hoping we both love Arden’s newest book🤞🏼! Starting Dreadful tomorrow probably if I’m lucky since I’m the slowest of the buddy readers and I always feel like I need to start early and then always finish last regardless 😂🙈! I’ll definitely let you know once I get to/finish The Iliad. At this rate I might watch The Odyssey movie before I even start the book 😂!
