It’s Monday, Let’s Catch Up │#19

Hey bookworm friends. Wishing you all a week of happy reading! Now that my husband is off work for the summer, our weeks are super chill and we’re spending a lot more time together which I’m really happy about. I spent the morning cross stitching, then had tomato soup for lunch (a recent fav comfort meal) and now it’s time for It’s Monday, Let’s Catch up. It’s been way too long since I last shared my reading, blog, and shelf updates so here we go!

Music Monday

This week for Music Monday I’m sharing two songs from the same album, one I’ve been listening to a lot lately. Sleepless Empire by the Italian band Lacuna Coil, came out last year but it’s been on replay for me lately. I really enjoy the entire album but the songs I’m sharing are two of my favourites from it.

Album: Sleepless Empire
 Release Year: 2025
Genre: Gothic Metal / Metalcore

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Just Finished

Ebook

The first book I finished in July is a short graphic novel called The Creature From the Black Lagoon Lives! This was an alternate sequel to the movie which I’ve never seen but I found it on Hoopla and I was curious to learn more about this monster.

Currently Reading

Physical

I started Chain of Gold this weekend and I’m already sucked in!

Physical

Dreams of Distant Shores is one I’m reading slowly because it’s a short story collection. I’m excited to finally be trying Patricia A. McKillip even though I’m not a great lover of short stories.

Audiobook

Listening to Stealing From Wizards Vol 1: Pickpocketing with my husband for our friend book club and it was picked because it’s by a local indie author. The author narrates the audiobook and published it on Youtube in Podcast form in case anyone is interested. Almost done Vol 1 and actually loving it!

Up Next

Physical+Audio

In a couple of days I’ll be ready to start my next buddy read which will be Dreadful.

Stacking The Shelves

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, whether it be physical or virtual. Reading Reality posts on Saturdays but you can post any day that works for you— don’t forget to visit the link-up on Saturday to join in on the fun!

A few books have come into my shelves since last Stacking the Shelves. In June, I attended Toronto Comic Arts Festival (TCAF) and got a couple new graphic novels and a picture book. I’m particularly excited about those new additions because I got to meet the authors and they very kindly signed the books 🥰! I also got tempted by a free book on Google Books. And lastly, a couple of new books are due to my husband making a couple of purchases and they definitely count since we share shelves and more importantly, taste in books 😉.

  1. Ooh, Forgive-Me-Not was a really cute and heartfelt graphic novel that I read earlier this year and really enjoyed! What a great freebie 🙂 I hope you enjoy it! Dreadful is on my TBR and I actually haven’t seen a lot of people talk about it so I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it. Happy reading and enjoy the rest of your week, Vero!
